The Hack Shack

Why I Know it will succeed

Web Sites that promote Open Information.

Information security knowledge base?
ok, I am a diablo addict.
my boys punk band site.
its why the internet got popular

this is a business proposal and outline for my dreams and possible reality of a computer store with low overhead and amazing prospects. Named "The Hack Shack" not only commands instant recognition through shock value, but sums up the possibility of a computer store that can relate to all aspects of modern computing. The young find a reliable source of entertainment and a laid back atmosphere in a technologically based themed environment, promoting the will to further their knowledge in computers (security and maintenance). This comes naturally to the demographic i seek to help promote "The Hack Shack". The Older and wiser but sometimes less technologically savvy will be drawn to a store that not only intrigues but offers many opportunities to learn at all levels by enthusiastic certified instructors. Now to the fun part. This is the part where i get to explain my dream and whats different about it. imagine walking in a door of any computer store. (imagine) what do you see? racks with stuff and a counter with a person behind it. bins of used parts and a few used computers, possibly if your lucky the newest and best in computer peripherals...i.e. video cards, sound and drives. Sound correct that all are basically the same? Well here are the major differences. (imagine) Imagine again that you walk in the door , this time the doors of "The Hack Shack". First you will notice music from local bands who have consignment cd's sold without commision at the store that advertise freely on their cd covers. The music will be selective and based on the emotional (and potential sales) output to sales and atmosphere. hence an initial word of mouth campaign through local artists and near free advertising cost , using target demographic. Secondly you will see and more than likely focus your attention upon a large plasma monitor that to the unskilled and skilled is most intriguing to all customers is a "hack in progress" a 24 hour, first hand view of outsiders trying to hack an internal (separated of course) computer within the store. with this hack in progress comes a comradery and a potential for possible widespread (free) attention. As well as gifts for those who succeed and recognition. {take that as you might} its better than reality television. You will get an inside view and almost hands on knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes as attempts are logged and watched in real time of hackers and silly kids attempting to use every tactic to compromise a well safeguarded computer. It will not only be a learning experience, but a real life demonstration/sales pitch on the importance of security. The decor can be simple and i have considered using old almost chronologically placed computers...nostalgic=, yet relaying a great history and knowledge of the companys love for computing. Simple, inexpensive and without words giving customers the comfort and feeling of security, knowing its not only a business but a passion.we have the plasma screen, the decor, the music...what about product? well another difference you will see in "the Hack Shack" is tables of computers for hire, state of the art and equipped with moderately priced yet capable components, used for in store training, education, rental and best of all gaming. services would include "test driving" games before purchase, online gaming leagues, simple-affordable web surfing, and ala carte web design by any capable within the company. Security consulting and risk assessment as well as in home training and repairs/upgrades (all services will be available on location with company van complete with inventory). "The Hack Shack" will be a full service computer store with obvious competition from local established companys, but can use the possibility of negative attention from competitors and quite possibly the media as very low cost advertisement. LOCATION is key in this endeavor and low startup costs are necessary. I can only explain in person the potentitial for cost cutting through the use of in store promotions, word of mouth, and a devised plan for hiring qualified candidates/customers to perform above satisfactory workmanship. I truly beleive my dream is a possibility, with backing and motivation in this tech-driven time that the allure and mystique of the unknown will draw more people to not only come in the door, but feel more confidence with this company than they do with unskilled, poorly trained employees at a large corporate store. I am confident as well that i can make a large return on a minimal and un-volatile investment. You can offer me the terms for this is not just a business proposition, but my dream and aspiration.
