This is the way our DKP system works: based off your attendance to our raids, you received DKP -- 5 points per 1 attendance (considering there were nights some of us were in there 6+ hours, this was a fair equilibrium). The way you gain DKP in 40-mans is simple: every hour there will be an announcement and everyone in the raid will receive 2 DKP per hour. If you are not there at the time of the announcement, you will NOT receive DKP. If someone fills in for you part way through an hour and they are there for the announcement, they will receive 1 DKP. For every boss killed, an additional amount of DKP will be awarded to the group -- you must be eligible for loot in order to receive your DKP. Bosses are worth different amounts based upon their level of difficulty. In ZG/AQ20, the only way you accumulate DKP is by killing bosses... we aren't going to give DKP by the hour in 20-mans. If you are D/C at the time of a DKP announcement and have been D/C for less than 5 minutes, you will receive your DKP. An easy way to avoid you missing DKP: get on Vent and if you D/C, you can just say something like, "Oh fucking Hell Blizzard's servers suck, I'm relogging, be right there..."
What we do with our DKP is a form of a modified auction. If you want, you can bid DKP on an item; however, it must be at least 15 DKP to open the bidding. After the bidding is open, there will be NO LONGER THAN 2 minutes of bids. If you want to blow all your DKP on some drop off the first boss in MC, that's your business, but me? Well, I'm saving it. This does NOT mean that all items require DKP to receive them. If no one wants to put up the DKP for an item, it will be a C > N > G free-roll. Think about how you use your DKP before you go all gung-ho and spend it. If no one bids on an item, you will get a roll at it anyway :) If two people decide to bid the same amount (so that they don't have to go crazy in a bid-war), only the winner of the item will have his/her DKP subtracted.
Do NOT expect to have me wait for you to think if you want to bid DKP on an item... if you think you want something badly enough to bid DKP on it, say something IMMEDIATELY -- I will only hold the DKP option up for about 20-30 seconds before I move on to a C > N > G roll. Go read the strategies for the bosses planned each night and determine what stuff you want to throw your DKP at... it's completely up to you. You must remember though that 15 DKP will take you 8 hours of raiding to regain.
This system is always subject to change/revision. Your amount of DKP will never be affected by this though. Keep an eye on this site and know your DKP before you start bidding more than you have (this will cut down on the amount of work for me >.<)
