Eternal Night

Epilogue

When Heero returned to the girls’ room Lee was already gone. Heero sighed and went to check on Relena. He was happy to see that she was starting to wake up.

He sat down next to her and waited for her to open her eyes.

Relena moaned before she woke and saw Heero right next to her.

She gasped and sat up straight. "You…you’re…"

"I’m Heero Yuy…"

"The vampire slayer?"

Heero nodded, "Do you remember anything from last night?"

"A little…" She confessed, "I remember you…"

Heero nodded again. "Do you need anything?"

Relena shook her head. Heero said nothing and stood up.

"Wait!"

Heero looked at the girl,

"Thank you for helping me…"

"No problem Princess." He started to leave again,

"Wait!"

Heero shot her a questioning glance.

"Can’t you stay with me, just for a little while?"

Heero smiled slightly and nodded. "I suppose."

Wufei, Trowa and Quatre stood outside the small hotel, ready to go their separate ways. "I’ll se you guys around," Trowa said as he left.

"Wait a minute Trowa! Where are you going?" Quatre cried.

"I think I’m going to go back home." Trowa answered, "There are some things I need to take care of."

"Oh, well good luck Trowa."

"What about you, Quatre?"

Quatre blushed. "I think I might go check up on the woman we met in the valley, Catherine."

Trowa smirked, "Well, good luck to you."

Wufei managed a chuckle. "I’m going back home. Howard’s castle is technically mine now, unless he found time to name someone else."

"Well, goodbye Wufei!" Quatre waved at the Chinese man started riding away.

"I’ll see you around." Wufei answered.

"I’ll see you again too, Trowa." Quatre said.

"Perhaps. But not until our next job."

Quatre laughed and turned to the west and rode off as well. Trowa was the last to leave. He turned and kicked his stag in the thigh. The stag reared up and then dashed off in the opposite direction of Quatre. It was about time everything went back to normal.

Duo brought Lee all the way back to his castle and landed in the window. He placed Lee on her feet and said nothing as he grabbed her hand and led her towards a small staircase.

"Welcome back, My Lord…"

"Not now Dorothy," Duo hissed. Lee was alarmed; she had never seen him so angry before, and she wasn’t even sure why he was so upset.

"D-Duo…" Lee asked tentatively. Duo didn’t answer her; his face was set in a frown as he pulled her roughly up the stairs. He was moving very fast and Lee was having trouble keeping up.

"Duo slow down!" She pleaded. Duo didn’t comply.

They arrived at a door and Duo pushed it open. Behind the door was a huge square room, decorated only in black. There was a huge bed up against the back wall with a black canopy and black sheets. In the far corner was an elegant black coffin.

As Lee studied the room, she realized this had to be Duo’s quarters.

Duo spun her around to face him and stared into her eyes. Lee was shaking in terror, the same way she had been the first time she met Duo.

Duo’s eyes softened and he gently brushed her hair out of here face. "Please, just give me one last wish before you go…"

"Wha…" Lee started, but Duo didn’t give her time to ask what he was talking about. He cut off her words with a kiss. He covered her mouth completely and let his tongue slip into her mouth. Lee gasped at the coolness of his skin. But for some reason, she submitted and tilted her head back to him, letting him get into every corner.

When he finally pulled back she saw the hurt in his eyes. "Duo…what’s going on…?"

"Are you ready to go home, babe?"

Lee gasped. "You…you’re letting me go?"

Duo nodded,

"But…but why?"

"You know what Lee. That Deity helped me realize something."

"What is that?"

"That I am hopelessly in love with you."

Lee’s next remark, whatever it was going to be, got stuck in her throat as she looked Duo over. He was telling the truth!

"And if I love you, I wouldn’t keep you here against your will." He let her go and waved his hand in front of him. Instantly, a portal opened up, just like the one in her dreams. The portal spun and swirled and a strong wind came from it, whipping her hair around her face. She looked up at Duo, "Thank you," She whispered. She gave him a quick kiss and stepped towards the portal.

Duo couldn’t stand to watch as Lee took the first few steps towards the portal. He turned around and closed his eyes tightly, clenching his hands at his sides. He heard the portal close and the wind stopped. Tears sprang to his eyes and he struggled to keep in his sobs.

But suddenly he felt two slender arms wrap around his waist.

"I’m sorry Duo," Lee whispered as she dropped her head against his back.

"Lee! What are you doing?" Duo gasped. He spun around and brought her face up to look at him. "You were supposed to go through the portal and go home!"

"I…I couldn’t…" Lee stuttered.

"Why not?"

"Because," Lee looked away and blushed, "I love you too."

Duo grinned, and then he laughed and pulled her up into his arms and kissed her deeply. "You know what this means don’t you? If you stay here you have to marry me…"

"I know…"

"And you have to become…"

"I know, so let’s just get it over with."

"OK," Duo took her into his arms and pushed the hair away from her neck. "This may hurt a bit," He warned. He closed his mouth over her slender neck and slowly pressed his teeth in until they broke the skin. Lee gasped and gripped his shoulders, but he didn’t stop. He felt the vein split and slowly began to suck. Her blood was sweet and like silk on his tongue. He had to be careful, or else he would suck her dry. He knew Lee was getting weak, and her legs suddenly collapsed from underneath her. Duo caught her and lay her down on the bed.

"Don’t sleep yet baby," He said. He cut his own neck and pulled her face up to catch the crimson liquid. Lee drank greedily of his powerful, ancient blood.

"That’s enough." He told her quietly. He pushed her away, but she still wanted more.

"Not now baby," He whispered. He peeked out the room’s only, tiny window and saw that the sun was rising. He picked Lee up and carried her over to the coffin in the corner. He climbed in, with Lee on top of him. He closed the lid and started to drift to sleep.

"Goodnight, my love."

"Goodnight, Duo." Lee moaned. He knew she was already asleep by the time she spoke those words. Duo smiled and stroked her hair and closed his eyes. Then he too fell asleep.
