GUIDS Documentation

The GUIDS methodology was used in the planning phase of our project and consists of five sections. The Goal-Centered Design section ("G") includes the business goals and objectives of the application, use cases, class diagram, object model and definitions of the properties and methods of the classes. The User-Interface Design section ("U") defines the user-interface goals, the features and the style of the application and contains screen shots/prototypes of the forms. As for the Implementation-Centered Design portion ("I"), it describes the architectural design, application components and component communication. The project Entity Relationship Diagram and the description of the fields in the tables make up the Data Design portion ("D") of the GUIDS document. The Strategies for Construction ("S") consists of a project plan, coding estimates and established coding conventions. The GUIDS document serves as a guide for people working on the project to ensure that all are on the same page.
