News UPDATES

This is what's happening NOW.

The membership voted to pass the contract by a 51 to 40 vote (a 56% to 44% margin). Many strong feelings about the proposed contract exist on both sides and are both equally valid. As a democratic organization, the majority of the membership has now spoken and we must move on and hopefully vigorously utilize the new staffing language to improve the workload situation wherever we can and continue to push for equitable treatment for all members.

The contract also must be ratified by the Somerset Hospital board of directors on March 31, 2003. If that is accomplished, it will become effective March 23, 2003.
