VCTI (Virtual Center for Technology Innovation) is a
special group which can be found at ASTI, UP Diliman. The group specializes
in the VHDL technology, microelectronics. They are currently conducting
training on IC design, development of library IP cores, and board level
design.
Among their works right now is the design of 32Bit microprocessor
(Philippine made), VITERBI Codec (chips used in cellphones) which they
hope to finish in the soonest possible time. They can even do the ASIC
level design. They also noted their intention to compete in the BLUE
TOOTH technology which will come by early 2005.
The VCTI is an inspiration that we Filipinos can also
compete in the technology arena. Their sole mission is to provide a
stepping stone to the Academe and the Industry sector for technology
transfer.
