To me at first this soundtrack didn't look all that special. It starts out on the first single and the 2nd track is a POD remix, no offense to them, but I wasn't much excited to where it was leading. I was actually surprised by it, by the 6th track it was sounding good. I enjoyed the sequence of the tracks and the new songs were really good. Takes really apart from the other albums that came out recently like Queen of the Damned OST or Resident Evil OST. Although this soundtrack is still in the same band-field as the other 2, it had a more sense of originality and being well constructed.

The new tracks by System Of A Down, Godsmack, and others really make this soundtrack a good reason to spend your money on, it's not just another mix of songs you heard on your radio before. Overall this is a very good soundtrack and if you plan on buying one, buy this.

Put a band together with influences like Faith No More, Tool, and Fishbone, let each member add unique influences ranging from Phish to Guns n Roses to Trance music. Enter Hoobastank.

Flash back to July of 1998 and enoughmoney saved up to self release the first album They Sure Don't Make Basketball Shorts Like They Used To, spreading the Hoobastank sound across Southern California, throughout the United States, and as far as the UK, Brazil, Russia, and Israel.

Even further back to the summer of 1994 when Dan and Doug and Markku started writing music together, and then to early 1995 when Chris answered the right newspaper ad to complete the quartet. Forward a bit to the summer of 1995. The Roxy in Los Angeles. The first show: the lights, the adrenaline and the fans. The fans like you that have enabled Hoobastank to consistently sell out local shows, to play up and down California and Arizona, and to play venues as large as the Palace and even the Universal Amphitheatre.

And then look to what is almost yesterday. A band that has matured and grown enough to get signed to Island/Defjam Records and be picked up by the booking agency CAA, and then to tomorrow: a new album that will set new standards for and a tour that will bring the energetic Hoobastank sound even closer to you.

It has all led up to this, and this is only the beginning...

Kittie
Oracle
Artemis Records
2001

1. Oracle - 2:03
2. Mouthful Of Poison - 4:39
3. In Winter - 5:34
4. Severed - 3:20
5. Run Like Hell - 4:09
6. Pain - 3:55
7. Wolves - 3:26
8. What I Always Wanted - 3:43
9. Safe - 4:13
10. No Name - 2:15
11. Pink Lemonade - 10:39

Kittie, three young women from London, Ontario, Canada, have kicked my ass once again. To be totally honest with you when I first heard Kittie's first album, Spit, I thought they sucked. But that initial impression changed drastically one day when I was bored and ran through my entire cd collection. Spit is good album contrary to popular belief and if you agree, you will definitely love their sophomore effort, Oracle.

Much more heavier and explosive that their debut album, Oracle is said to manifest all the fury of Spit, but the blade of Oracle has been honed to a keen edge and hardened in the fires of hell. I wouldn't go as far to say that myself due to the fact that Kittie is no where close to be that type of band that Artemis Records describes. They go on to say that Oracle speaks of a journey of loss, despair and deception but foretells of an ultimate destination of truth and triumph.

Very interesting, but if your like me you don't really care about all that mumbo jumbo, just go out and buy the album. Its due to hit stores, November 13.

Sevendust
Animosity
TVT Records
2001

1. Tits On A Boar - 3:41
2. Praise - 3:40
3. Trust - 5:14
4. Crucified - 4:11
5. Xmas Day - 5:15
6. Dead Set - 5:01
7. Shine - 3:40
8. Follow - 4:46
9. Damaged - 4:34
10. Live Again - 4:26
11. Beautiful - 4:11
12. Redefine - 3:41
13. Angels Son - 4:03

On November 13, Sevendust's third album, Animosity hits stores. My prediction is that they will surpass Kittie in first week sales. This is because for Animosity Sevendust embraced the ideal like many other bands that one does not have to be angry to get their point across. Thus you will notice how more melodic this album is as compared to their past releases, Self-titled and Home. Though the change is not drastic, you can hear the difference.

There is no outstanding difference between their sophomore release and Animosity. It just picks up where Home left off. I like this album, if you're fan I definitely recommend it. If not, I suggest you buy this album just for the fact that this would be a nice addition to anyones cd collection.
