Foremost Manufacturing began with a request for a camera flash reflector. The original product was made of copper and had silver deposited on the surface. This reflector was in a vacuum, so exposure to the atmosphere was not a problem. As time and development progressed, reflectors began to be designed for applications where silver could not be used. Aluminum became the popular material and various processes were developed to finish this material. Some of the processes employed by FM over the years have been electro-forming, electro-polishing, mechanical polishing, chemical treatments such as bright dipping, anodizing and sealing.
