Love Your Neighbor

You know, of course, Valentine's Day is the day of expressing your love to a special someone, husband, wife, friends, etc. The list can go on and on. But why do most people wait until February 14 to express or tell someone. "I Love You."? Expressing love towards others should be something that is practice on ongoing basis not just once or twice a year. Imagine if Jesus waiting until February 14 to tell and show us His love through His many blessings. In my opinion, we will be mess up.

God is all about love. One of the most popular love scripture tells us how much God loves us is John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. This is love beyond love. This is true and unconditional love. Do you think we are capable of loving others the way God loves us?.....Probably not. But it's not like we can't try.

Before we can began to grasp or learn to love the way God loves, we must first learn to love God with all our hearts, all of our minds, and all of our souls. Because how can we say that we have love for people, when we cannot even love the creator of all people. You can't love the creation and not love the creator (talk about being hypocritical). "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself" (Luke 10:27).

From reading John 10:27, you realize that show and expressing your love towards others go beyond just your family, friends, or people you know. Our love must extend out to our neighbors. Who are our neighbors? MMMM, let me think. Everyone. Everyone we come in contact with in stores, restaurants, bowling alleys, parks, are our neighbors.

I know that is far more easier to reach a helping or even have a conversation with someone you know versus someone you don't know. But you should try it. You will be surprise of how rewarding it is to have a nice conversation with a stranger or help someone without thoughts of wanting anything in return. That's what God's love is all about. By doing that, they will see God in you. And you don't have to wait until Valentine's Day.

By no means I am trying to bash Valentine's Day. It's one of my favorite holidays. I just want to let you know that after Velentine's Day, expressing and showing love should not stop. Tell you about give a valentine's day card or a rose or something to someone you will not normally give a Valentine's to.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all. And remember that God loves you, in spite of everything you did that makes you think you're not worth being love.

This was written with you in mind.

Food for the Soul:

It is essential that we recognize and understand what love really is. One the best scriptures that defines love will be 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Love will last forever..." (NLT).

"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,..." (Matthew 5:44)

Proverb Quote of the Week:
Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.
(Proverbs 10:12 NKJV)
