Q. I am building a "7" type car from a popular book , can I use Stalker wishbones to enable me to utilise S10 spindles?
A. Definitely not:- The whole front frame, wishbones , rack mounts on the Stalker are designed around the S10 spindles, Chevette rack and 195/50/15 tyres. All of the mount points are set out for the S10 spindle height and K.P.I. and rack inner joint, to achieve our designed camber change/roll centre geometry..with minimum 'bump steer'. For the same reasons, Pinto or Cortina spindles could NOT be used on the Stalker..
Q. I like the one piece hood...do you sell body parts seperately.?
A. Sorry, but we will only sell body parts to Stalker kit buyers. We are very proud of our bodywork!! The Stalker has very stylish 'looks' and features, so in the interest of protecting the resale value of our cars, our body parts will be exclusive to Stalker owners.
Q.Can I use a different engine/transmission?
A.Only if you are ready and able to engineer the installation / systems yourself.A huge amount of research and design has gone into the two engine options that we offer. Installations are simple and all components required are available from Bruntonauto, from Engine management, to Headers and alternator mounts.. The cars have been thoroughly tested and are very reliable and can have anything from 140 hp (stock 2.8...to well over 300hp with the L67.) Both engines are positioned to give the car 50.3F/49.7 R weight balance with 200lb driver.
Q.Do you use the pedals, master cyls.steering column from the S10?
A. The pedals can be adapted, but the amount of work involved, and heavy weight would not do the car justice . It is, after all, a sports car, so we opted for Wilwood all Aluminum brake and clutch pedals and master cyls. These are very high quality and lightweight ( not too bad on the wallet either!!! Brake and clutch pedals, lightweight aluminum dual brake master cyl, aluminum clutch master cyl with remote reservoir...$330.00).the stock slaves are fine . We use 4130 thick wall tube, with Borgeson or Flaming River U joints, combined with the collapsing section of the S10 column for steering . This is a fast little car, so steering and brake components are not the place to 'skimp'.
Q.Are S10 ball joints used in the suspension.?
A.No... all the ball joints, tierods etc are specially selected for the suspension. We will supply a full package with our kits, and provide a part# list..We have put a great deal of time and research into sourcing these components, not only for suitability, but availability!!Other than the Wilwood parts, (easily obtained from Jegs,Summit etc)pretty well all components are available at the Discount Auto Parts Store!!!
Q. Do you use the S10 Driveshaft?,If so, LWB or SWB?
A. Yes we do, Either the one or 2 piece shaft can provide the ends, and enough shaft to make up the correct length. We supply exact dimensions with the instructions, to give max. spline penetration, but still allow the driveshaft to be fitted / removed without having to move the engine or rear axle.
The shortening operation is best done by a driveshaft expert...the ends need to be perfectly aligned and 'timed'. I you don't have these services available, we can supply a shortened shaft with new 'U' joints with the kit..you send us the ends of your donor shaft.( we give dimensions for cutting to reduce shipping costs )
