A muffled ringing woke Megan up. She sat up in her bed and tried to figure out what it was. She finally determined that it was her cell phone. She crawled out of bed and went and got her purse off of the dresser. After digging in her purse for several seconds she found it, “Hello?” she whispered hoarsly.
“Megan? It’s me, Nick. I’m standing outside your front door. Come let me in.”
“Nick what are you doing at our front door?”
“Just come let me in,”
“Alright, alright,” Megan grumbled walking down the stairs
“Where did you meet Stephanie?” Nick asked
Megan looked at the front door holding the cell phone, “Are you drunk?”
“No, come on, open the door.”
Megan shrugged and unlocked the door. Nick was leaning against it with one shoulder and fell into the house. Megan giggled as Nick lay on his back and looked up at her, “What are you doing?” she whispered loudly.
Nick got up off the floor and glared down at Megan, “You could have told me you were opening the door.”
“Sorry,” Megan said with a giggle
“Okay, I know this is going to sound weird. I know it is, but there is a reason I am asking it okay.” Megan nodded up at him, “Okay, when did you meet Stephanie?”
“In school, why?”
“When?”
“Like a year and a half ago, or something.”
“You have never met her before?” Nick asked watching Megan closely.
“No,” Megan looked at Nick, “Why are you asking all these questions?”
“No reason. I have to go,” he said turning and walking out the front door.
“Wait! Where did you get my cell number?” Megan asked
Nick turned around, “You gave it to me a long time ago.” He shut the door behind him and left Megan looking at the door in confusion.
She threw her hands up in the air, “This is nuts!”

Stephanie was making breakfast when the phone rang. She answered it in hurry because Megan was not up yet, “Hello?”
“I can beat you at Mortal Combat!”
Stephanie laughed at Nick, “Yeah right you little dork! I beat you to many times!”
“You did?” Nick asked slowely
Stephanie stood still, not saying anything. She knew that somehow Nick knew. She didn’t know what to say, “Nick, I…”
“I figured it out Steph, I admit I don’t have it all figured out, but I think I know what’s going on.”
“You do?”
“ Stephanie stood still, not saying anything. She knew that somehow Nick knew. She didn’t know what to say, “Nick, I…”
“I figured it out Steph, I admit I don’t have it all figured out, but I think I know what’s going on.”
“You do?”
“Yeah, you wanna meet somewhere and talk about it?”
“Nick, I….”
“I want to know what’s going on Steph, it’s not a game you know.”
“I know!” Stephanie answered
“I have something I want to show you. Come on over to my house, okay?”
Stephanie sighed, not knowing what else to do, “Okay.”
