Stephanie hung up the phone, “I called to let Megan know where I was.”
“Cool,” Nick mumbled as he left the room.
Stephanie leaned against the counter and sighed. Things were not suppose to be this messed up. Nick was suppose to fall for Megan, A.J. had to find someone else. Why couldn’t it all go as planned without hurting so much. Nick walked back into the kitchen, took her hand and spun her around, “What should we do today?”
“Well, I have work to do, and I am sure you could find something to do.”
“Aw, come on. Don’t make me work. Let’s do something fun,” he said leaning in to kiss her.
Stephanie stopped him, “Nickolas, don’t make me get mad.”
Nick dropped his arms, “Come on.”
“NO,” she said pushing him away, “Nick, if you don’t stop, I am going to stop talking to you.”
“I don’t care,” she glared at him and he grinned as he finished, “as long as I can still kiss ya.” She punched him in the arm and he stepped back, “That hurt.”
“It was suppose to. Now, of you do not stop, I will wipe your memory.”
“You can’t do that.”
She smiled, “Oh, yes, I can.”
**
Megan walked to the front door a few seconds after the doorbell rang. She opened the door to find A.J. standing there, “Oh, hey. What’s up?”
“Is Stephanie home yet?”
“No, she’s not.”
He sighed, “Do you have any idea where she is?”
Megan knew she should be a good friend and keep her mouth shut, but she was to mad, “Yeah, she just called. She was over at Nick’s.”
“Nick’s?” A.J. asked, “this early in the morning?”
Megan gave a small smile knowing A.J. was a little ticked, “Yep, in fact, I was just about to go over there. You wanna come with me?”
“Um, yeah, sure. Want to take my car?”
Megan smiled, knowing that Stephanie would be mad, “Sure, let’s go.”

“Nick, listen to me. Nothing is ever going to happen between us. We have always been friends, and that is what we will always be.”
Nick crossed his arms and looked unhappily at Stephanie, “You can’t say that”
“Yes, I can. I know you hate it when I say this, but someday you will find the perfect girl,” he started to shake his head, “that will love you back. Nicky, you may think you love me, but I know you don’t. You can’t because I can’t love you back.”
“Okay, now you listen to me for a minute. I do love you, and you can’t tell me that I can’t. Who cares if we may not end up together for the rest of our lives. Considering that you are not even alive at the moment,” she smiled a little, “Missy, people love more than just one person during their lifetime.”
“You are hopeless to argue with, ya know that?”
He grinned at her, “I do try.” Just then, the doorbell rang, “I wonder who that could be,” Nick commented as he went to answer the door.
