Carrie:

The alarm clock buzzed at me annoyingly, warning me that it was time to get up. The smell of bacon and pancakes drifted from the kitchen as I got dressed. As I strolled down the stairs, I saw an unusual sight. My father, Richard Kensington, was cooking breakfast! He had been so lifeless ever since my mother died, it was amazing to see him busybody about the kitchen.

“Have a seat Baby Princess, breakfast is served,” he grinned, placing a plate of breakfast on to the table.

“Daddy, what’s up with you. Cooking breakfast?” I voiced in disbelief.

“Well Baby Princess, I’m happy for you,” daddy continued.

“For what?” I inquired, dipping my fork into the mountain of tiny pancakes.

“Gary asked you to be his girlfriend,” he smiled.

Instantaneously, my face was drained of its color and my eyes widened in fear. How did my father know about this? Luckily, he had not seen my reaction. I immediately put on an invisible mask and forced on a smile. “Oh, thanks.” After hearing my father’s words, I knew I would have to agree to Gary’s wishes, whether I liked the idea or not.

As I drove to Stanford in my Benz Convertible, the same questions kept playing in my mind like a broken record. Was it wise to get into a relationship with Gary? What about my true feelings for Kevin? What about Kevin’s true feelings for me? Would it break my father’s heart if I refused Gary? How easy would this situation be if mom was here to offer some advice? A car horn honked loudly, distracting me from my train of thoughts. I looked up and found myself in the Stanford Student Parking lot.

As I gathered clean towels for the football players to use after early morning practice, Gary snuck up behind me. “So, what do you say,” he asked, slipping a necklace with a beautiful platinum ring around my neck. I stared into his eager blue eyes.

“Of course, how could I refuse?” I beamed. I leaned in to give him a peck on the cheek, but I missed and landed on his lips. Gary turned it into the most passionate kiss I had ever experienced. We were so caught up in our little world of ecstasy that we did not notice the other guys enter the room. With deafening screams and hoots, they made their presence known. After I turned an interesting shade of crimson, I noticed that not all of them were cheering; out of the corner of my eye, I saw Kevin alienate himself from the merriment.
Kevin:

When I arrived at practice, my mind was a computer in overdrive. But I was not concentrating on the next lineup arrangement or putting the ball in the end-zone. Instead, I would constantly look over to Gary, trying to decipher his body language. However, I knew I was kidding myself. Carrie would agree to him no matter what, it was only a matter of when. After that startling realization, my blood began to bubble inside my body and my emotions were ready to blow like lava out of an active volcano. So I took out my anger on the game. That practice I tackled harder, ran faster and threw longer passes than I ever had in any practice. Even the coach wondered where my sudden Superman powers were coming from.

I was so caught up in rage that I did not even notice that Gary left practice early. After practice, I followed the other guys into the changing room. They suddenly started cheering. So I pushed in front of them to see what the hoopla was all about. And sure enough I saw Gary and Carrie in an intense tongue-wrestling match.
