"The fans might look at Courtney as a 'bad girl,' but personally, I don't think she's a bad person - she just just goes about getting what she wants any way she can. The way she sees it, the ends always justify the means. Sometimes, she goes about things the wrong way because she always puts herself and her son's needs above other people's. That necessarily doesn't make her a bad person - maybe she's a little offbeat, but that's normal for a soap opera.
Courtney is a real good mother. She is very sincere about loving her son, and she really wants him to have a good and 'normal' life, be happy and healthy and have a father. She really loves Joe - he's kind of her savior and he makes her son happy. She thinks that if things worked out with him, it would set everything right in her life. If she had her ideal life come true, Joe and Courtney would get married, they'd raise Neil, and maybe have another kid. Joe would go on to be a very successful doctor, she'd be his wife, spend her time organizing charity functions and be respected and admired in the community. Of course, knowing Courtney, even if she got everything she wanted, she'd probably mess it all up somehow."
