tyler_mane: Hello everybody in the chat room. How you guys doing? And gals.
the_narc_2000 asks: Is the Sabertooth in the movie as vocal as the one in the comic books?
tyler_mane: On July 14th, you'll see just how vocal he is. A man of few words, but a lot of action... and it's very aggressive, so to speak. You'll be very impressed. I hope ;)
culeno asks: What was Tyler's favorite part of doing this role?
tyler_mane: I'd have to say it's the action. I've got an 11 1/2 year background in professional wrestling, as well as martial arts. It's fun beating people up. I love the action
moccisun asks: Did you read comics when you were growing up and if so did you like Sabertooth?
tyler_mane_live: I never really read them growing up, but I had seen the cartoon a bit. When I was up for the role, I went to a comic store. I asked if they had, "This X-Men comic" and he laughed at me. The first 3 rows were just X-Men alone. I came out of there with I don't know how many comics, and I'm still reading them today.
aergarian asks: How was the training for this movie. Did you have do more or have you kept your self in shape?
the_narc_2000 asks: Did you do all of Sabertooth's stunts in the movie?
tyler_mane: I have kept myself in shape from the wrestling. We did a lot of wire work and flying through the movie, and the training for the big stunts ... we trained for a few months before. As to the My Own Stunts... I did a lot of my own. It's kind of funny, wrestling for 11 years and then Fox doesn't let me do the fun stunts! For the ones I didn't do, I pushed my stunt men off the roof then ran down to the craft table and got some food!
soul_prism_eternity asks: Will you be fighting with Wolverine in the movie?
tyler_mane:...Have you ever seen the comic? :P Has Sabertooth ever fought him in the comic?...
uk_6_sic_6 asks: how did you get into wrestling?
tyler_mane: I spent 9 1/2 years in the martial arts and played some semi-pro football. I was going to play pro in Canada and then the team folded, so I went into wrestling. I've been doing physical sports since I was young, and it was a natural progression.
From football into wrestling into the film!
mr_april_2000 asks: what was Ian McKellen like to work with?
tyler_mane: Working with Ian was... very very fun and a good learning experience for an actor like myself. He's so unbelievable, and he helped me out a lot. Of course, I think I intimidating him a bit. :)
steve8179 asks: hey Tyler how does it feel to be playing comics baddest bad ass / from what I've seen so far you're doing a great job good luck man
tyler_mane: Well, thank you very much and I'm glad you likes it so far. I hope you will when you see the film. There's nothing better in the world than playing the Bad Ass
alexman78 asks: do you think the movie at least will appeal to people that don't read comics??
tyler_mane: Very much so. The X-Men deals with a lot of issues that other comics don't. Minorities... and in this case, the minorities are the mutants. There's a very interesting story going along with this that people will like, and it's Bryan Singer and his way of telling the story. I think people will be very very impressed.
caseyinthefaculty asks: Do believe in mutants?
tyler_mane: Just one. ;)
caseyinthefaculty asks: Is it cool to be in Premiere Magazine?
tyler_mane: Yeah.... it was kind of interesting doing that photoshoot. It was kind of neat to walk into newsstand and see your face looking back at you.
The Black Cover, with Mystique and Toad and Sabertooth is the only important one to buy. Rush out and get one! They made 3 different covers.
sabretooth2k asks: Tyler, is Sabertooth slated for a sequel?
tyler_mane: Well, it's slated to a sequel if you go to the first week, to every show, and make sure people WANT to see it. And as far as returning, for Sabertooth to come back...I cant say. If enough people make it to the movie in the first week, I'll never have to go back to Wrestling. ;)
culeno asks: What are his future plans in acting?
tyler_mane: I just did a series of Son Of The Beach, for Howard Stern's spin-off of Baywatch. And I finished a film with David Spade and Adam Sandler's production of "Joe Dirt" I'm also up for a few projects in the works right now.
culeno asks: Is it hard to find roles at your height?
tyler_mane: Well... Let's put it this way, if you need someone who's 6'10, I'm definitely right for it. It is probably tough for the height and size, but there's always opportunities out there.
syphon1_99 asks: how was it wearing the costume?
tyler_mane: To get into the costume took about 4 hours of makeup. Wig, prosthetics, teeth, contacts....
and then getting into a complete leather suit. After that point, I was definitely in the mood to play Sabertooth. And for Rebecca, for Mystique...it took over 8 hours to get into hers
the_narc_2000 asks: Are you going to any comic book conventions?
tyler_mane: Yes. I'll be in the one in Chicago.... Wizardworld. So come on down and see me!
beetle_man_2000 asks: Mr. Mane, what was your favorite experience filming x-men?
tyler_mane: The food was good :D No, I'm kidding.
It's hard to say. It was all really really good. I enjoyed the whole experience. This was my first film in prosthetics, but I'd done movie work before.
Joey_Joe_Joe_Shabadu_99 asks: who would win in a battle between you and wolverine
tyler_mane: That's obvious. ;) That's a silly question.
sabretooth2k asks: Tyler, is Sabertooth portrayed as the smartass villain from the comics or as more of a brute, like Bane from Batman and Robin?
tyler_mane: He is.... I would have to say a brute with an attitude. He just likes to beat people up, and he does it well
caseyinthefaculty asks: Can you give us some tidbits about how they pulled off the amazing effects.
tyler_mane_live: I cant give anything away. Go see it in the theaters!
culeno asks: What was your most embarrassing moment on the set?
tyler_mane:nothing really. I busted up Hugh Jackman a little bit.
the_narc_2000 asks: Would Sabertooth be a good wrestling gimmick these days?
tyler_mane: He'd be a great gimmick, but I don't think Marvel would let it take place. You never know though. You could really do a lot of damage with those claws!
biggybiggleworth asks: Have you by any means read the new book that just came out for x-men
tyler_mane: There's a new book? There's new stuff coming out daily... is it a new issue? a new title? A book about the movie? Thanks.... and I'll go run around and see what you're talking about! And see myself on the cover of Premiere as I go. ;)
cdn_wolf_eh asks: So what exciting things did you do in Toronto in-between shoots?
tyler_mane: Toronto was a lot of fun. But it was a bit chilly at times. I mainly worked out to stay in shape, went to the theater sometimes, and did a lot of eating. When you're 6'10 you eat a lot.
vincer1966 asks: Hugh said that you took a blow to the chest pretty hard while filming. Did you take a lot of actual hits? Hugh Sounded as if you did.
tyler_mane: You're just lucky you're talking to me over a computer, buddy! Sabertooth can take ANY hits from that punk Wolverine.
KARLCARP asks: who was the most inspirational of your fellow cast members
tyler_mane: In what way?
mouiltyay asks: Do you think X-men will be the new Batman franchise? have you seen the finished product yet?
tyler_mane: I have not seen the products yet... but Batman and X-Men is a kind of different ballgame. That's a guy in a rubber suit... This is mutants!
Yahoo_Host1: Have you seen your action figure yet?
tyler_mane: NO COMPARISON growl. yeah, and I saw it a couple days ago. That's pretty cool. I had a couple action figures from my wrestling career like in Mexico, but this is unbelievable. I went to a Comics store in LA, and that was really great. It blew me away. And the Sabertooth is of course the best. Put that Sabertooth Figure next to my Premiere Cover, and wow. ;)
Yahoo_Host1: Are you recognized on the street - as Sabertooth?
tyler_mane: Yeah, I have been. A few times. I was in about 4 hours of makeup, so I don't know how they can spot me.
zackmack_17 asks: Did you like being a villain?
tyler_mane: Oh, of course. I spent 11 1/2 years wrestling as a villain, so it's the funnest part.
beetle_man_2000 asks: In the movie, are you ever harassed by Kelly's agents like in the comics. Please don't say I have to watch, I cant wait much longer?
tyler_mane: Beetle... July 14th....coming to a theater near you
dookie_insomniac asks: August 20 (UK)
tyler_mane: and you gotta wait a bit longer if you're in the UK, yeah.
aestergaard asks: Do you plan on doing your own site ?
tyler_mane: I have one that will probably start shortly... let me find out the website address... I'll get it before the end of the chat... here it is www.tyler-mane.com
But it's not launched yet....watch for it soon. someone else had registered my name, but that's not the real one. Mine will be official soon. ;)
joebob2234 asks: What do you think about Storm womping on you in the previews?
tyler_mane: Well.... Joe Bob, how do we know it aint you gettin' beat up like that? they had to put something in the preview making it look like SOMEONE could beat up Sabertooth. I mean...wouldn't you let Halle Barry beat on you a bit too? ;)
dragula_7186 asks: Did you enjoy working with the other talented actors?
tyler_mane: yes, I did. Immensely
sethgecko13 asks: What do you think of Fox's Senator Kelly Anti-Mutant campaign they've been running to promote the movie?
tyler_mane: I thought that was very interesting. I was watching TV and that campaign came on. I was like...."Who the heck is running for what?" and I had to see the whole thing until I recognized Bruce! I thought it was quite good. Unbelievable, and so realistic. When I saw it was the Stop The Mutant campaign...I wish I could say that I thought about that.
lucky_irishman_2000 asks: Does Wolverine say bub a lot in the film?
tyler_mane: July 14th...Bub.
bgddyts asks: will you be appearing on Leno or letterman?
tyler_mane: That is a good question... I will know shortly.... Very much so
chrismousewilliams asks: hi there! was the film a challenge as you were attempting to live up to cartoon heroes
tyler_mane: I will know shortly.... Very much so. When I auditioned, it was probably good I didn't know HOW big it was. When I met with the Marvel people, and saw the comics, and realized Sabertooth was one of their main badboys, it was good to have the pressure.
It helps you to perform properly.
sethgecko13 asks: Must've been rough working around Rebecca in that blue body paint, huh?
tyler_mane: heh heh. It was rough when I was in the makeup trailer, and it was "divided" off That blue paint was nasty. But once she was painted up, it was fine.
Aqxzm asks: Did you ever get tired or having your make-up being put on and taken off day after day?
tyler_mane_live: probably after the first time, yeah. But it's something you get used to, and hopefully it was all for the good of the end result.
nglive asks: hey Tyler do you like Kool-Aid?
tyler_mane: It depends what flavor. He was afraid of facing Sabertooth
aestergaard asks: why is there no Gambit?
tyler_mane: He didn't want to show up... He was afraid of facing Sabertooth. He came in for the first day, but saw Sabertooth, and turned tail and ran.
Aqxzm asks: What was your least favorite part about working on this movie?
tyler_mane: Probably standing outside in Toronto for a 14 hour day in -35 degree weather... with a wind machine blasting snow flakes, potato flakes, and ice chips on me at 100 mph. That was kind of a rough day.
caseyinthefaculty asks: gambit could beat the crap out of Sabertooth
tyler_mane: ... like I said before... he knew I was going to be there... and he left the building. ...
martinez385_07305 asks: is this movie going to be lots of fight and blood?:)
tyler_mane: a lot of fights and blood? let me think..........July 14th... you'll have your answer...
caseyinthefaculty asks: Did you bring any family members to the set?
tyler_mane: My mom actually went there. Mrs. Tooth
cheriepie_1981 asks: I wanted to know is this movie good for all ages?
tyler_mane: It has a PG-13 rating I think.
chrismousewilliams asks: did the special effects live up to your expectations?
tyler_mane from what I've seen.... I've gone into the editing room and I saw some scenes being put together, and when I watched them, I got goosebumps. I would have to say from what I've seen... yes.
the_narc_2000 asks: Did you get to keep any props?
tyler_mane: ;) it depends if Fox is listening
I have my chairback from the director's chair, and that means a lot to me. And I'm talking with Tom DeSanto, one of the producers, to possibly get a Sabertooth suit for myself. I wanna run around the streets growling at people. the shoes gave me a 4 inch lift. That's 6'10 + 4 more inches!
manolis_varnassinger asks: what was the most dangerous scene you had to make in the movie
tyler_mane: Sabertooth doesn't have any dangerous scenes. I cant remember anything dangerous. He just beats the crap out of everyone. Nothing hurts him. of course , if you ask anyone else...it would be fighting Sabertooth.
justin_clark420 asks: Have you ever picked Sabertooth on the video game X-Men Vs Street Fighter?
tyler_mane: Actually....yeah. What's it to ya? I think it's the game you're talking about, but I did something with Insight magazine, and I played against Ray Park (Toad)....and I was Sabertooth, and he beat me once. just once.
chuck00000000000000 asks: I've "heard" Sabertooth doesn't talk much; Do you wish you had more dialogue w/ Wolverine and the others?
tyler_mane: Actions speak louder than words.
hardy_boyz_82 asks: did you like it in professional wrestling?
tyler_mane: Yes. I did. It is a lot of fun being in front of tens of thousands of people yelling and screaming, but you are getting pummeled constantly, and the travelling is tough. You're on the road 300+ days a year. It was great training for being Sabertooth
ms_sung_hi_lee asks: how much input did Stan lee have in the making of this film
tyler_mane: I cant answer that one... I wasn't involved much in that aspect of it.
caseyinthefaculty asks: Who would win if Sabertooth fought Britney Spears?
tyler_mane: She does Tai Bo. Get a promoter to put that fight together, and we'll just see.
biggybiggleworth asks: is there any cameo's in the movie
tyler_mane: You know......July 14th...
roguequeenofhearts asks: Was it hard to walk with a 4 inch lift on your shoes
tyler_mane...It made life interesting. They weren't heels really, but it was built up in the back and front. I wore them in special scenes except during actions and stunts. Then I wore stunt shoes.
biggybiggleworth asks: Hi, I was wondering about a wintery fight screen in the movie, do you beat up Wolvie and put him asleep? o yeah I live near the filming and heard a big bang, were you there when they blow up a truck?
tyler_mane: Yes I was. And... July 14th will answer all your questions.
pandrind asks: I've read that Bryan Singer can be pretty tough on a cast. How did he handle you guys?
tyler_mane: He was a pleasure to work with. I enjoyed very much working with him. You could tell that he sees the complete picture. A person's got to respect that. It was fantastic and I wish him all the best.
manolis_varnassinger asks: how many hours a day did you worked for the movie
tyler_mane: too many! I'd spend 4 hours in makeup, then work 12-14 hour days...if not more, then an hour to get out of makeup. And in between all that, to try and go to the gym and stay in shape. It wore me out after that 6 months. But it was fun.
gr8advnture asks: Where are you from?
tyler_mane: I'm originally from Canada. But I live in Los Angeles now, and have a horse ranch elsewhere in the country.
dookie_insomniac asks: What is your favorite movie and move?
tyler_mane: That's a good question... I watch all movies and get something out of each. Considering that action films are what I do, the person I enjoy watching the most is probably Arnold. I hear there's a new Terminator coming out. ;)
the_narc_2000 asks: Just how heavy was that log you swung at Logan?
tyler_mane: that was a heavy log!
beetle_man_2000 asks: IN THE COMMERCIALS, YOU ARE SWINGING A TREE AT SOMEONE, EXACTLY HOW STRONG DO THEY PORTRAY YOU TO BE?
tyler_mane: It was the heaviest damn rubber log I've ever slung :P
teqnotic asks: Did you stay up many hours practicing how to GROWL for the role?
tyler_mane: I practiced for 11 1/2 years in the wrestling ring. I was ready for that.
aestergaard asks: Was there anyone else considered for the role of Sabertooth, if so then how close was the casting?
tyler_mane: the other person considered actually...was my ex-tag partner from Wrestling! Kevin Nash. He's gotten a little heavier and a little out of shape... but doesn't really look the role. They asked me if I'd be interested in doing his stunts, but then Bryan saw a picture of me, and wanted to meet me to do the role. I went into his office and he was changing the script. He had his head down, and I just stood there. Then he looked up, saw me...and jumped up, "Oh My God, It's Sabertooth!" :) See you all July 14th...
