Shows

10/19/05 Labyrinth Open Mic @ Geology Building

Comments: Our first show went alright. The P.A. was small and because there was no microphone stand the host of the show had to hold the microphone for me. We also had to use my Casio keyboard for Roses. It was whack. Joe didn’t sing any songs at that point. Crash Into Me was an exceptional performance, however. 3/5

12/10/05 Church @ Indianapolis

Comments: This was a pretty rough one for me. I had been drinking all night and had puked several times on the road to Indianapolis where the show was. The sound system was very nice at this performance. The set had become extended since Matt had joined the band. 3/5

02/01/06 Indiana Unplugged (Audition) @ School of Law

Comments: We auditioned with Complete Me and It’s the End of the World as We Know It in a small class room with no microphone. At that point we felt confident about the show. 4/5

02/08/06 Max’s Place Open Mic

Comments: This was mostly an acoustic performance by John. It was the first show we had played with him. Danarian was still yet to join. 3/5

02/15/06 Max’s Place Open Mic

Comments: Ben and I played Karma Polce and Norwegian Wood. Ben sang very well. We used his full-key electric piano. I preferred the harpsichord effect on it. 3/5

03/23/06 The Union Gallery

Comments: Danarian played his first show with the band on this night. A tape was made of the first few songs, but I never saw it. This was probably one of the biggest steps for the band. It was the first time we had played Foxy Lady in front of an audience. 3/5

03/24/06 The Union Café

Comments: This was just a day where I had accompanied Ande Sedwick with my twelve-string acoustic guitar. It was early in the evening. A man from Bloomington Video Productions offered that we record and gave us his business card. 3/5

03/25/06 Buskirk-Chumley Theatre

Comments: This has got to be the most disappointing show yet. There were problems from the start. We were introduced as another band. We didn’t sing well. We didn’t perform well. We didn’t make the cut for Indiana Unplugged because at this point we were obliged to play with half of the members for the audition, and no kit. 2/5

04/01/06 Max’s Place

Comments: This was an excellent show, and one of the most enjoyable. We developed a great set that ended well with Hey Jude. We even brought the tambourine. 4/5

4/06/06 The Nest @ Teter

Comments: This show didn’t feel right from the get-go and I think most of the other performers in the band will agree. We had trouble running the grand piano through the P.A. All songs were sloppy. We were playing at an anti-alcohol convention where the order of the set skewed the excitement in the atmosphere. 2/5

04/09/06 Readfest (Audition)

Comments: We auditioned through a P.A. in the dance studio at Read dorms. We sounded well-rehearsed and the sound seemed to balance out pretty well. I think the rest of the band continued to play after I had left for work. 4/5

04/23/06 Readfest

Comments: Despite an overall unreliable P.A. we won this Battle of the Bands competition and the three-hundred dollar first prize (finishing second was The Slide.) Foxy Lady was probably as strong a performance as ever. I borrowed Marco’s loud Ibanez bass, a favor which may have been one of the sole points to victory. 3/5

4/25/06 Live Musical Performance Open Mic @ Sycamore Hall

Comments: I borrowed a P.A. from Richard for this show. The acoustics in the room were very nice, it being a performance hall. Although Matt and Danarian couldn’t make it and we only had time for four songs I want to add that Rob played the bass very well and helped us close Hey Jude adequately. The bass we used was essentially one of the nicest ones I’ve played on. Wrong pitches seemed very few and far between. 3/5
