I was born in Colorado and lived for thirteen years of my life climbing the foothills of the Colorado National Monument for something fun to do. All around me I had buffaloe roaming and coyotes howling at night. The land in Grand Junction, Colorado where I lived a big part of my life was so rich with history that belonged to the Indians that to this day I miss it and all the things that the area taught me. Whether it was the artifacts sold in the shops around the town I lived in or the villages that the Indians themselves had carved into the faces of the mountains like at Mesa Verde, there was always something to learn, to respect, to enjoy. I remember my late Grandfather calling me "Little Indian Girl" now and then after my deep tans I get in the summer and my brown eyes and dark hair. I always took it as a compliment.

As I grew older my respect for the Native Americans grew. I was taught their history in my history books in school which was easier to picture than most as all I had to do was look out the window and see the tips of the mountains a lot of those Indians lived in and worshiped their Gods in. I feel fortunate to have had that opportunity to grown up around land that held such history as I know many children are not as fortunate.

This is one of the things that drew me to Madeline Bakers Indian Romance Novels. Each one I have had the pleasure to read is filled with history; colorful passages that bring the scenes alive as well as enable you to picture each of the Indian tribes featured in the books.

I also have to extend my gratitude to the cover models with their long flowing black hair, their piercing eyes and their awesome physiques; as they make the heroes of the books almost touchable. The combination of the wonderful costumes, majestic looking models on the covers, the great story telling in the books have made for a pleasurable time for me as I have read and re-read each one that I have been able to purchase. I hope that you too will give these books a chance, they may just surprise you as you are swept away down the Spirit Path with Shadow Hawk as he is transported through time to collide with his soul mate Maggie or as you hold your breath hoping once again that JT Cutter in Angel and the Outlaw is not hung again for a crime he did not commit.

Thank you Madeline, you and your cover model heroes have made me fall in love again with the richness of places that remind me of my birthplace. You will always have a place on my book shelf.
