Alex sat in the hotel room and let out a big sigh. Her parents had taken the twins to the beach and she was left alone, in silence. Just as she decided to watch a movie the phone rang. She just looked at it for a minute, having 3 guess to who was calling. It was either Nick, Aaron, or her parents. She took her chances and answered it, "Hey Nick, what's up?"
"Hey! How did you know it was me?"
"Just a guess. That and the fact that you have been the only one to call since I got here."
"Oh."
"So, did you need something?"
"Can a guy not call to just talk to his beautiful girlfriend? What do I have to do to get a break around here?"
Alex laughed at him
"I did have a question though."
"And what would that be?"
"Well, I was sitting here thinking about you, like I so often do, and I thought--You know, I have never taken Alex out on a real date before. Every time we've gone out it's been for pizza or something. It's time we had a real date.-- So, being the wonderful guy I am, I decided to call and ask if Alexis would join me for dinner at one of the finest restaurants in Tampa. Besides, tonight is a benefit that I promised my mother I would go to, and it would look bad if I didn't have a gorgeous date."
Alex laughed, "Okay, who are you and what have you done with Nick?"
"Very funny. So, will you go out with me?"
"Nickolas, I would be honored."
"Then I will pick you up at 6:30 sharp."
"What should I wear?"
"Alexis, you could wear a sackcloth for all I care."
"Well, thanks a lot!"
"No, just wear a dress, it doesn't have to be elegant or anything, just nice."
"I don't think I brought anything nice, but I'll check."
"I am honored that you would grace me with your presence."
"Are you on something?" Alex asked her psycho boyfriend
"Only your beauty."
"Nick you are starting to scar me."
"Okay, I'll stop. Did you ever ask your parents about the tour?"
"Yes, I did."
"And?"
"And I will tell you tonight."
"Ah."
"Don't 'Ah' me, I'll tell you tonight. Now, I have to go see if I have anything to wear. I will see you at '6:30 sharp'.
"Okay, adios mi bonita muchacha."
"You need to get off whatever you are on muchacho."
Nick laughed, "I'll see you tonight."
"Bye."
Alex hung up the phone and went into her parents adjoining room to see if her mom had anything she could borrow. Even though their taste differed, Mrs. Paine was a very classy lady, and being the wife of a well-known attorney who always had to attend social events did help the matter. Alex was looking for something simple, that she could maybe dress up. Her mother had brought several dresses because she was supposed to go to a formal the following evening. Alex turned her nose up at all 3 of the dresses her mom had brought until she came upon a simple short black dress. It was just what she needed. Alex then remembered her mother always packed this dress 'in case of an emergency'. She thanked God and then went about trying to figure out shoes. She found her mother's black pumps and dug thru her drawer until she found some black stockings. She then went back into her room to find the jewelry and make-up. She dumped all of her jewelry out on the dresser and started to go thru it. She picked out 2 of her favorite silver rings, her favorite set of silver bracelets, some silver hoops, and a long silver chain. That should do it, she thought to herself. She glanced at the dress again. I think I brought my maroon sweater that would go nice. She dug thru her stuff and came across the sweater, perfect! She glanced at the clock, it was only 2 o'clock and her parents wouldn't be back until much later. She sat down and decided to watch her movie.
At 5 their was still no sign of her parents, she went ahead and got in the shower, once she got out she quickly dressed, and put her jewelry on. She then went to tackle her make-up and hair. She decided that her hair would look best up, or maybe half up. She played with it for a minute before deciding to put it up like Audrea, the hair dresser that did her hair for the "Back to Your Heart" video, showed her. Once that was done she stepped back and looked in the mirror, not bad she thought. Then she began to work with her make-up. She decided to go simple, her mother always said that was the classiest look. Once she was done she stood back and admired her work. Just then her siblings came bounding into the room
"WOW! What happened to you?" Jason asked looking his sister up and down.
"I'm going out."
"Obviously."
"Alex I...." Her mother walked into the room and stopped, "Is that my...Where are you going?"
"I'm going to a benefit with Nick tonight, and yes this is your dress, I didn't think you would mind since I needed one and if I had to go in my jeans I would have told everyone that I was your daughter."
Mrs. Paine laughed, "I don't mind at all. What benefit? Your father and I were scheduled to go to one this evening for a child's organization."
"I didn't really ask."
"So, what are we suppose to do with the twins?"
Alex looked at her mother, "I didn't think of that."
"Well, I guess you..."
Alex cut her mother off, "Mother don't make me change my plans to watch them, I have watched them almost this whole week while you and daddy did everything you wanted to do."
"Alexis, your father and I ad already made these plans."
Alex was about to get into an all out argument with her mother when Jasmine told her she had a phone call.
Alex went to answer it, "Hello?"
"Alex? This is B.J., Nick's sister. Nick told me he asked you out to the benefit that he and my parents are going to. Mom knew that your parents were probably attending and suggested that I call and see what you planned to do with the twins."
"Well, we were just discussing it."
B.J. giggled, knowing what she was talking about, "I've had those very same discussions. I had planned to take Leslie and the twins out for the evening, would Jason and Jasmine like to come along?"
Alex looked at Jason and Jasmine and then at her mother, "That would be wonderful, if you don't mind."
"No, not at all. Nick and my parents just left, so they should be their any minute. We'll be there in a minute to pick them up."
"Thank you so much." Alex said with a sigh of relief.
"It's not a problem."
Alex hung up, looked at her mom, and then asked the twins, "You guys wouldn't want to go out with Aaron and Angel tonight would you?"
Jason looked at her, "Are you kidding, that's so cool!"
Just then her dad came in, dressed in his suit, "Alex, I found someone wondering around outside. I think he was looking for you." Alex turned to see Nick, looking more gorgeous than ever.
