Wetland Bugs Lab Report

Purpose-

To see if the amount of invertebrates/bugs in a wetland's water makes it bad water or good water.

Hypothesis-

We believe that more invertebrates/bugs in the water will make it good water because it means that the water is healthy enough for living things to live in it.

Materials-

1. micro net

2. clean slides

3. slides of algae

4. microscope

5. staining kit

6. petri dishes

7. wetland

8. fishing line

9. dropper

10. syringes

11. field microscopes

12. cruddy clothes

13. old shoes/boots

Procedure-

1. Use micro net to collect two samples of water, each from different ends of the wetland. To collect these samples attach the micro net to the fishing line and throw it in there. Then retrieve the net and empty the contents of it into a container.

2. Take your samples from the wetland and take them inside.

3. Take a small portion of each sample with a syringe and drop it on a clean slide so you can observe the samples.

4. Record all your observations.

Conclusion-

In conclusion we learned much about wetland intertebrates. We believe that our hypothesis was right based on the data we collected from the samples.
