The Tarot can be very helpful in discovering why certain things happen and what the best step to take is. This is a part of Tarot reading that should only be done once you have established that your readings are accurate, and when you have a working knowledge of the deck. The first step to take when using the Tarot for advice rather than prediction, is to go through the Structure as mentioned on the other page. Do what your standard reading structure is, and then move forward from there. For instance from the example on the Structure page: 1. Master Spread 2. Celtic Cross 3. Yes/No spread From this you may establish that there is some guidance needed regarding some of the steps. Perhaps the person wants to know the best way to go about something, or they want to know how to avoid something that you have seen in the reading. After you have done the standard reading, the smaller spreads can help in aiding the person for guidance. The trick here is to have a good knowledge of what to ask the deck next. Rather than ask, what will happen regarding this? Ask, What will happen if I go down this path? Again, the trick here is to be familiar with the Tarot. I have often asked clients to think of a question that I have formulated and asked them to focus on that when shuffling the deck. They aren't the Tarot reader and they shouldn't be expected to know exactly what to ask regarding advice. If you have been reading for some time, you will be sure to have some thoughts on how to word certain queries to get the best response. Share this with the person that you are reading for, as the most important thing is to give them the information. For instance, if from the above spread we established that there were some financial difficulties coming up, we could then ask the deck, "Can these difficulites be averted by an effective money management structure implemented now?" Again, this is only for the experienced reader, and if you are not comfortable with looking to the deck for advice, then it is best to avoid doing it until you are comfortable. Often, a seperate reading isn't nessesary to let the person know the best path to take. This will often appear in the larger reading. However it is difficult to explain here how to go about this, as it depends on the person that you are reading for. As with all readings for other people, take caution with offering advice. It is best to refrain from doing so unless you have seen it in the reading directly and you have asked the deck specifically. You should try and give the person the information that they are asking for, not just your own opinion. In the How to know what questions to answer section, I have given a brief outline of what areas you should avoid when reading. It is up to you what you want to read, however this can be helpful when learning how to read for other people and to offer advice with the deck. ![]()
