Obedience Programs

Thank you for your interest in being a RESPONSABLE DOG OWNER by taking part in Obedience/Behavioral Training for you and your canine companion.

No creature , be it animal or human , is born into this world with the knowledge and skills needed to survive and function as part of sociaty. Your dog looks to you , as a responsable owner , for the knowledge and skills required to be a well adjusted member of your family and sociaty in whole.

THE QUESTION IS........WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO LEARN ???

ROGUE K9 Training Center offers several programs to teach BOTH you and your dog how to accomplish the most possible.

COMMON QUESTIONS???

Q...At what age should I start training my dog/puppy??

A...ROGUE K9 offers programs that allow puppies as young 8 weeks to begin behavior/housebreaking , with Puppy Skills training beginning there after.

Q...How old is TOO old to take part in training??

A...Old dogs CAN learn NEW tricks --- most dogs , regardless of age can learn something in obedience training. We have conducted successful obedience training in dogs as old as 7yrs , with dogs in the 2 - 4 yr range being common.

Q...We are a family with childern , can they also take part in the training sessions??

A...YES , by all means. We encourage all members of the household to take part in the training process. After all --- you all live with the dog. Training programs are easily adapted to the include various aged members of the household.

Q...I don't have very much time , can you train my dog for me??

A...YES & NO --- YES , we have an INBOARD training program , where you would board your dog at our facility for a period of 2 or more weeks ; during which time the requested skills are taught -- BUT it still requires you to take part in atleast 2 follow-up sessions (1 at time of pick-up & 1 a few weeks later) during which YOU learn the skills needed to interact with your dog's new training. And as with any training program , your continued practice and interaction with your dog is what keeps it's skills (and YOURS) sharp.

AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PROGRAM

The What & Why of the Canine Good Citizen Program

The Canine Good Citizen program Test is a certification program that tests dogs in simulated everyday situation in a relaxed atmosphere. It identifies and rewards dogs that have the training and demeanor to be reliable family members as well as good-standing community members.

The purpose of the Canine Good Citizen Test is to ensure that out favorite companion , the dog , can be a respected member of the communtiy because it is trained and conditioned to act mannerly in the home , in public places and in the presence of tother dogs. the program embraces both pure-breed and mixed-breed dogs , as the anti-canine sentiment does not discriminate between pure-breed and non-prue-breed.

Canine Good Citizen training is fun and useful. Through it , you & your dog will establish a closer bond -- and your dog will have the added benifit of knowing how to please you. this test of your dog's manners and training is not a competition and does not require you & your dog to perform with precision.

All dog owners are encouraged to take part in this program , thereby assuring that dogs will be welcomed and respected members of the community.
