Berimbau
Originating from Angola, Africa and now Bahia
in Northern Brazil, the Berimbau is used in "Capoeiria".
the Brazilian Martial Arts.
The Berimbau is played by striking the string
with a stick in the right hand, with a Caxixi over the fingers.
Using the left hand, the small fingers holds the instruments,
while a coin is used in the other fingers to change the pitch.
The gourd resonator gives a "wha-wha" sound. These
are made from selected hardwoods such as maple, walnut, oak,
or hickory.
