BARCELONA UNIVERSAL MODELS

The 1/32 BUM sets like the 1/72 sets have figures that are more or less copies of figures made by other companies or are from old molds once owned by another company.

BUM 3000 Tarzan King of Apples

B.U.M. 1015 - 5 Wires and 6 bazookas, The "bazookas are actually recoiless rifles.

The "WWII" figures seem to be based upon Starlux figures. Although listed as "US" troops the figures are copies of Starlux modern French Army figures. To date all of the figures have been produced in gray soft plastic and make ok WWII Italian or Russian troops. In the few boxes examined we have found several figure substitutions so we can not guarantee contents. The original painted Starlux figures are on top, the BUM "copies" in gray below.

1001 M.G. Group, With 4 figures in 2 poses plus 2 multi piece Maxim crank Gatling/machine guns and a barb wire baricade.

COMANSI

Comansi added two unpainted figures to their generic American Wild West line and made it a Davy Crockett header bag set with about 9 figures and 3 or 4 horses. Contents vary from bag to bag so we sell them by the piece. These American Western figures are 70-80mm in size. The two unpainted figures including Crockett were made in a rubbery plastic while the horses (seem undersized) and painted figures were made in polyethylene we think.

Thunderbirds figures are 75mm and made of rubbery plastic. We have found them in two different groups of six poses as seen in the picture.

About 70mm in scale.

OLIVER

PECH & REAMSA

Pech was an early Spanish maker. They did not hallmark their figures. Reamsa took the over or bought some the molds and at first also did not mark their figures so it is hard to tell who made what in the 1960s. BUM got access to some of the molds as well.

1960s/70s ORIGINAL PRODUCTION FIGURES

Reamsa made nice factory painted figures that were sold in window box sets.

- Matador waving cape, 54mm.

1990s FACTORY PAINTED FIGURES

In about 1995 a limited edition of 400 sets of both Roman Infantry and Cavalry by the factory. They were priced for the adult collector market.

These 1/32 (60mm) figures were made of a dense PVC and factory painted. As they are PVC the paint will not flake off like has happened to most figures made of polyethylene. The infantry set consists of 10 distinct poses while the cavalry set has five poses + two different horses.

1990s REISSUE PRODUCTION UNPAINTED FIGURES

Like most European companies Reamsa originally offered their figures for sale factory painted in window box sets. In the 1990s some of the Reamsa figures have been reissued in an unpainted format. Long owned by the same family the molds have now changed hands to a company known as Gomarsa. This process has taken place over the past several years. Unlike some makers who made a mold with many cavities, each Reamsa cavity was separate and evidently it has taken some doing to find and sort them all out. When we get any of these new figures in stock we will list them as such (recasts of Reamsa). The possibility does exist that some of the unpainted figures offered below are recasts from Gomarsa but what we have left in stock has been here for 3-4 years. If we find out more information about Gomarsa we will share it with you. Gomarsa is now out of business as of 2004. The molds are in private hands and a few contiNue to be run. We will now list all REISSUES & RECASTS that we get in one group. As Reamsa made individual molds for each figure it is possible for partial sets made, and also possible for a mold to be discovered that we did not know existed.

REISSUES AND RECASTS

Eight of the at least 11 foot Roman molds have been RECAST here in 2004. The other known Roman foot molds are damaged and are being worked on.
