She threw him away
and drove him into my arms.

She could have had all he had to give
She turned away and left him longing for tenderness.

What foolishness she did make
Everything was at her feet but her eyes were closed.

What was more important?
What little business of life closed
her eyes to the love he had to give to her?

She doesn’t regret what she has done
because her heart has grown to distracted
by her mind.

Life's small necessities of comfort and pride
robbed her of the most precious thing she could own.

Now he is gone from her and she is unaware
of all she has lost.

What a terrible sadness has befallen them
because she forgot to treasure what was always there.
