Ernesto "Che" Guevara

In 1956, along with Fidel Castro and a handful of others, he crossed the Caribbean, invading Cuba and overthrowing dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Two years later, after a guerrilla campaign in which he displayed such outrageous bravery and skill that he was named comandante, the insurgents entered Havana and launched what was to become the first and only victorious socialist revolution in the Americas.

Guevara left Cuba in 1965 to incite revolutions first in an unsuccessful attempt in Congo-Kinshasa and then in Bolivia, where he was captured with the help of the CIA and executed. more
