FROM UGO at MANTOVA:

Ciao,

Just come back home from Mantova really excited,
here're my impressions:

TIETRO BIBENA/SCIENTIFICA
MANTOVA
14 OCT 2000

[PIANO (a coda)]:

Easy to Slip Away
Nothing Comes
Bubble
Tango For One
A Better Time

[Acoustic Guitar]:

Confortable
Come Clean
Veronica
Shingle Song
Time for a Change
Primo On The Parapet

[Piano]:

Unrehearsed
Faculty X
A Way Out
Traintime
Refugees

[Guitar-Encore]

Patient

Concert started at 21.50 – Finished at 23.55, without a break.

Theater was sold out! It seems some attendants had to remain out.

Big big concert.

Set list strong and musicians stronger.

Singing and playing, as usual...highly emotional, energic but with quiet and sweet moments; also much space for some instrumental improvisation by the duo.

Entusiastic audience, perfectly quiet during music, with generous applause and shouting on every end of songs; really a fantastic mood.

Many foreigners : Deucth, Switzerland,…

After the last title of the set also some attempts to invade the stage.

Hammill on a real piano (a coda).
Gordon disrupting his arc chords during Faculty X.
On the encore, the final “Can you really be sure?” singed out of mic.
Highlights: Easy, Confortable, Primo, Way out and obviously Refugees.

Great effect also for the last album songs Tango and Veronica.
Evening really difficult to forget...

Ciao Ugo

FROM SOFA SOUND
17 OCT 2000:

The Italian tour is now done. Very enjoyable, too, especially the final show in the Teatro Bibiena/Scientifica in Mantova. An unamplified Bosendorfer grand piano, no less!
