It spreads by emailing itself over Internet Relay Chat (IRC). It make a copy of itself irok.exe in the Windows System directory and a VBScript file named irokrun.vbs in the Programs\Startup program. It will email the virus to the first 60 entries in your address book.

The subject of the email sent by the virus is:
"I thought you might like to see this."

The body of the message is "I thought you might like this. I got it from paramount pictures website. It's a startrek screen saver."

The virus is attached to the mail as a file named Irok.exe.

When the file is run it will display white dots moving across the screen. If mIRC is installed it will also create a script.ini file in the mIRC directory.

Sometimes the virus displays the following message:

Where do bad folks go when they die? They don't goto heaven where the angels fly. They goto a lake of fire and fry. See em again till the 4th of July. People cry and people moan. look for a dry place to call their own, look for a dry place to rest there bones.

The author of Irok-10000, who calls himself Raid, also wrote the HLL Toadie.7800 virus.

There is also a variant of this virus - Irok-7877.
