Well, it looks like DJ is going to have at least a couple of puppies!! This picture was taken about a week and a half before her due date, and you can see that she is in great shape and very healthy!
DJ is 4.5 years of age in these 3 photos. You can see she is in excellent condition and healthy as a horse!
Here is DJ at the age of 4 years. We currently keep her in very lean condition as she is Lance's jogging partner - they run about 4 miles together several times a week. It was about time that I updated her page (even if the picture that I used is not a very good one!) as I hadn't posted a picture of her since she was just a youngster! I plan to get a better picture soon with which I will replace this one!
DJ (Dasha Joy) is a gorgeous richly colored brindle and a relatively large female, weighing in at 127.1 lbs at 13 months of age. She is a major clown here at home and has taken to yodeling and chortling when she is happy or upset with something. She is one of the happiest dogs we've ever owned, in that her confidence is so great that nothing fazes her, and she takes everything in stride! We had an unexpected visitor drive up last year; DJ heard him coming and made a bee-line for the bottom of the front paddock in attempts to cut him off. She sprung up as she neared the fence-line, and lucky for him, her front legs caught in the field fencing. Her jaws snapped inches from his face through his open driver's side window, before the taught fence sprung her back into the yard! Needless to say, he high-tailed it out of there FAST leaving a rooster-tail of gravel in his wake!!
She is a 1/2 sister to Ashley, and is following in the paw prints of her big sis'. She has earned her IABCA International Championship, and her IABCA National Championship, taking 5 Best of Breeds, only taking Reserve to her sister, Lizzie!
We have received DJ's PennHIP evaluation and were thrilled to find that her hip laxity is "tighter than 90% of the breed" with a DI of .21/.36! She has also been officially evalutated by the OFA and was given a 'Good' for her hips and was negative for elbow dysplasia ('Normal'). DJ is a very nice bitch, with a strong rear and topline, and a massive yet feminine head. Combine all of this, and you've got a fantastic candidate for being a brood bitch that produces sound AND beautiful pups!!! We are SO VERY proud of her!!!
DJ whelped her first litter on December 3, 2000, just a couple of months after her 3rd birthday. She had 2 handsome boys (Stunner and Charlie) and a lovely girl (Marli)!
DJ whelped her second litter on June 27, 2002. This litter consisted of two brindle boys!
