For the last 22 years he has called Texas home. Carlos studied art, oils and acrylics at the Glassell School of Art in Houston, and clay modeling and mold making in Austin at the Elizabet Ney Museum.
Wanting to commit full-time to an art related career, Carlos served as Creart U.S.A. President from 1987 to 1996. In addition to his executive duties, his artistic abilities allow him to contribute to the design of product, displays, and catalogs. In 1992, Carlos produced his first sculpture.
In 1997, he and his wife, Minerva, established Estevez Creations. Their love for animals is truly reflected in his work. Carlos feels, “Even though we, as artists, are imitators of God’s creation, I find delight in what can be accomplished. In my work I can make tangible the beauty of our wildlife.”
Since 1997, Carlos’ work has been exhibited at numerous places. In 1998 he won Best of Show at “Meet the Artist” at Brackenridge, Colorado. In 1999 he was recognized by receiving an Honorable Mention in the Master Division, from the Realistic Equine Sculpture Society, at Lexington, Kentucky for his work on “Geronimo”.
Carlos is a passionate
and genuine person, and also one of today’s figures in the art scene.
His vision, discipline, and unlimited love for his job are reflected in
his concept of excellence. He knows that to make great sculptures,
he needs to have patience and affection for the animal he portrays.
His childhood passion for horses, his love for wildlife, and his incredible
talent are truly reflected in his work.
