HAVE YOU EARNED A TOMORROW?

This is something I often consider. Though many times I miss the mark.

Was someone glad and happy, because you passed his way?

And does anyone remember that you smiled at him today?

Is a single heart rejoicing over something that you said?

And does one whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?

Did you give a cheery greeting to a friend who came along?

Or a curlish sort of "Howdy" and then vanish in the throng?

Were you selfish and pre-occupied as you rushed along your way?

And is someone really gratefull that he met you just today?

The day is almost over, and your working hours are through,

And does someone whom you met today think hapily of you?

Can you say tonight, in parting with the day thats slipping by,

That to help some fellow-human you earnestly did try?

Did you waste the day or use it, was it well or badly spent?

Did you leave a trail of gladness, or a scar of discontent?

As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say:

That you've earned one more tomorrow, by the way you lived today?

My favorite prayer is one that has been uttered by many voices.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love.

Where there is injury, pardon.

Where there is dought, faith.

Where there is despair, hope.

Where there is darkness, light.

Where there is sadness, joy.

Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console,

To be understood, as to understand,

To be loved, as to love

For it is in giving, That we recive,

It is in pardoning, that we are pardoned,

It is in dying, that we are born to eternal life.

I give you a prayer of a person known as Saint Francis.

My favorite musician is J. M. Talbot.
