COINCIDENCE
by David Huntsperger
A large crow shuffles
sideways on the roof
outside my window.
He holds to the gutter,
watching
A man strolls
down the alley,
his long gray hair
blowing back
from his face. The crow
watches the man, unfurls
his wings and disappears.
On my kitchen table,
a book of Ray Carver
poetry lies open
to a poem about a crow--
about his crow.
I look to the quiet roof
and the gray sky beyond it.
I pour myself a cup
of hot coffee and stare
at the grass in the alley.
David Huntsperger lives
in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His poetry has appeared in various literary
publications, including: Bellowing Ark, Poetalk and The Underwood
Review.
