Service History:
The 25 standard engines (ie. non-streamlined) were constructed in the NSWGR's own workshops and entered service from November 1945 to September 1949.
The last streamlined C38s in regular service, 3801 and 3803, were officially withdrawn in September 1967 and Febrary 1968 respectively. 3820 and 3822 the last standard C38s were respectively withdrawn in September and December 1970.
