The Bantam Richmond Renegades found themselves in an uncharecteristic playoff-slump having lost 6-3 to Arbutus C-1, tying Burnaby Winter Club 4-4 and then losing to them 6-0 at home.With one more round-robin game left,against Burnaby Winter Club, Richmond had to win to keep their playoff championship dreams alive.
The Renegades scored first and quickly scored again as Gaelen Mogan and Jordan Cosulich set up Matt Greenwood and he let go a beauty of a slap shot. Early in the 2nd. fast-scating Kyle Cambell made a breakout pass to Pavle Djuricanin who stuffed the puck past the baffled Burnaby goaltender.Djuricanin's goal turned out to be the winner as the Renegades survived playoff extinction winning 5-2. Also in the game,Yong Min Kim had a end to end Modano-like goal and an assist,Cosulich had an empty net goal just after Greenwood hit the post and Micheal Hartmann, Dominic Jugovic and Aydin Smith each had an assist and played strong defencive hockey.
The Renegades are now hoping that Burnaby Winter Club loses it's final round-robin game against Arbutus C-1.If this happens, then the Renegades are in the playoff championship game. While waiting,the Renegades are preparing for the big Spring Tournament at RIC. and Richmond Arena.
