Just as the game began , big bad Renegade defenseman Gaelen Mogan , took a shot and the puck landed anywhere but near the goalie . The puck went through the meshing above the boards and shattered the front offices window ! There was glass everywhere at the Sun Set Arena Front Office . Luckily , no one was around , or they could have been seriously hurt and winded up in the hospital !
Unto the game . The T-Birds scored two quick goals and took a 2-0 lead . Than the Renegades got it going . Shawn Scott made a save and A.J. McKenzie got the loose puck and skatedd up the ice and passed it to Carl Chia who scored at 9:35 of the first . One minute later , Tyler Epp passed the puck to Dominic Jugovic and he took his sweet time with it , but eventually got rolling . The T-Bird defenseman gave Dom lot's of room so Dom kept on skating and cating and than suddenly went flying past the T-Bird defenseman and went one on one with the goalie . Dominic did a little deek and the puck went flying into the air . After 2 seconds , the puck went flying down into the net ! A beauty of a goal for Jugovic and the game was tied up at 2 ! That's how the first period ended .
Second period both teams jockied for position with the Renegades once again exploding for several goals in the middle of the period . At 8:45 of the second , Carl Chia scored to give the Renegades their first lead of the game ; 3-2 ! Gaelen Mogan and Shawn Scott picked up assists . 44 seconds later Dominic Jugovic got one of the easiest goals of his career as he harmlessly shot in a rebound , off of the goalies skate save , into the empty net . Tim Lin and Tyler Epp picked up assists at 7:31 of the second . Than the tyde switched a little . At 4:02 and than 30 seconds later at 3:32 of the second , the T-Birds scored two quick goals and where back in the game !
But than Renegade D All-Star Daniel Pi took it upon his-self to regain the Renegades two-goal lead . At 1:33 amd 1:02 of the second , Daniel Pi wheeled and deeled and wheeled some more giving the Renegades two fast brilliant goals and the Richmond was up 6-4 ! Dominic Jugovic , Jay Howard picked up assists on the 5th goal while A.J. McKenzie and Gaelen Mogan picked up assists on the 6th. The second intermission had Richmond up 6-4 and shurley they had the momentum, so the game was all there's for the taking .... right ? ....
Well apparently not so . Vancouver scored 9 seconds into the third and trailed by one . Momentum was the key word in this game and everytime a team scored a goal , they always scored at least one more . So with the Vancouver Goal , they started to pepper Renegade goalie Shawn Scott with shots . Shawn Stood on his head and made several Dominik Hasik-like stops . This in-turn gave the Renegades some momentum. Jay Howard , who played real well in the third period , got on a breakaway but was tripped up . While on his belly , Howard managed to shoot the puck . The Vancouver goalie stopped it initially . But Howard was able to get the rebound and shoot the puck into the net before Howard crashed into the net and knocked the mourings off . But the referee's where badly out of position and waved the goal off as they thought the net went off before the puck went in . This disallowed goal would prove costly down the strech of this game ...
The Renegades did get a power-play out of this but Vancouver successfully killed it off . Than the Renegades had a 3 on 1 . Daniel Pi , about to get checked by a T-Bird defended passed the puck on to Dominic Jugovic who let a furousious one-timer loose . The Vancouver Goalie stacked his pads together high in the air and made one of the saves of the year ! Dominic got completely robbed by the Thunderbird goalie ! This save turned out to be the turning point of the game as the ThunderBirds responded to their goalie heroics by scoring 4 more goals and won 9-6 ! It definatly was a shootout !! 15 goals in this game !! But the goalie's really played well and so did the defense of both teams . This Saturday Night game had it all ! Great Game Folks !
Pointwise Dominic Jugovic lead the Renegades with 2 goals and 1 assist . Carl Chia and Daniel Pi had 2 goals each while A.J. McKenzie , Goalie Shawn Scott , Tyler Epp and Gaelen Mogan had 2 assists apiece . Tim Lin and Jay Howard rounded out Richmond's Scoring with one assist each . Highly entertaining game ! Who needs to pay $75 to watch the Canucks when you can watch Minor Ice Hockey For Free !!
