2000-2001 RMHA Season Preview

Hello all hockey Pundits. Welcome to the 2000-2001 RMHA Season Preview!

This ice hockey season could turn out to be the funnest in years ! Many good talented Bantam Players from the Renegades are moving up to Midget this year ! With lot's of established power , their should be a dramatic increase in goal-scoring this year and many great stories of Richmond Hockey Lore. Let's have a Awesome Season !!

Richmond Renegades 1999-2000 Bantam C Non-Contact Record :

48 31 12 5 67 241 173 68+ 2nd Place Regular Season, Bronze Spring Tournament

Projected Richmond Renegades 2000-2001 Midget Record :

48 25 15 8 58 298 203 95+ 5th Place Regular Season, Gold Spring Tournamnet

The Renegades From Richmond Enjoyed a Fantastic Season last year in which the team posted 31 Wins! The Renegades dominated the easier teams but seemingly underachieved against strong teams. Without captain Matt Greenwood, Renegades lost 5-3 in the Spring Tournament Semi-Finals to eventual Champions Kamloops Sports Phyco's. Beat Vernon 4-2 by dominating 3rd Period; thus winning Bronze Medal. Coaches Cambell and Blackmore won Coach of the Year Awards.

The Renegades will be moving on up to Midget This Season and will be a force to recken with. Team should be aggtressive from day one as they are trying to win the Championship after failing to do so last season.

2000-2001 Richmond Renegades Player Profile

C Matt Greenwood

Dominating Center Reached peak of career last season with a whopping 51 goals in only 38 games. Leader on and off the Ice. SuperStar is the best scater on the Renegades and can do fancy moves on opposing teams' d-man. If Greenwood can play all 48 games this year, remain healthy and ignore and stay away from fighting with the other teams ckecker's, a 65 goal season is within reach. Needs more experience in Tournament play and to choke up more for the big games. Another productive Season is coming !

LW/DGaelen Mogan

Physically Dominating and an offencive genius. Mogan came into his own this season with 27 goals and a team-leading 32 assists. Had a 5-goal outburst against Killarney in Early January at Killarney Rink. Every game he plays , is a good game and he gets more and more better!! This star is going to become a superstar this year! Midget Hockey will be more akin to Gaelen's Style of Play. All Mogan needs to do is practce sprinting off the ice and he will be really unstoppable!!

C Jordan Cosulich

2nd Line Centre Man for Renegades can be Number 1 for any team. Shined and was team's Number One Centre durring the Spring Tournament. Power-Play Specialist should have another great season. Bulking up would improve checking game. Cosulich should crack 30-goal plateau this season!

A.J. McKenzie LW

A.J. had his greatest point production ever last season with 20 goals and 30 assists. He benifited from being on the same line with Greenwood. A smooth penalty killer, A.J. expects too see more time on the power play this season. Needs to work on endurance more and body-checking. Had least amount of penalty minutes , 6 , for the Renegadedes last season.

Kyle Campbell D

Renegades Defenceman leader. Led all D-Man on Renegades with 47 points in 46 games. Can do it all ! Score , pass and kick other opponents a$$. Not afraid to mix it up with the toughest, Campbell is the unsong hero on many nights. Kyle will lead the Renegades Defence into another succesful season.

Yong Min Jimmy Kim RW

Led all Renegade Right Wingers in Scoring with 43 points in 41 games. Was one of the Renegades top players in second half, including Spring Tournament. Was a surprise to many with how good he played in the second half, but really Kim has always had the potential to be an impact player and this year should be his breakthrough season. Must stay healthy though, and keep his mind on Ice Hockey, Would really benifit if put consistently on the same line with Greenwood as the two have a very good intense scating style.

Mike Blackmore D

Strong D-man with a great pass had an average year posting 39 points in 48 games for the Renegades last season. Blackmore was on top of his game in the first half , but was a lot more quieter in the second half of the season. Had a sub-par Spring Tournament with only 3 points in 6 games. Needs to stay in shape and be more consistant. Should top 20 goal mark if works hard all-season.

Dominic Jugovic C

The Renegades 3rd Line Center had his most productive season ever garnering a career high 20 goals and 13 assists last season. The so-called craziest player on the Renegades lead them with 4 game ejections and was third in penalty minutes with 65. Set a league record by scoring 2 goals in 8.2 seconds in the late third period against Vancouver Thunderbirds in Richmond. Going into his 13th year of Ice Hockey, Dominic needs to improve his work-ethic, be more conditioned and more consistant. Should become even more of a physical factor in Midget this season.

Pavle Djuricanin RW

Pavle also enjoyed his most finest offencive season ever by scoring 20 goals and 12 assists. Djuricanin was at his best on the power play and was also a fine checker. Needs to improve scating to reach the next level. Although not to big , he can dish it out to the best of them. Pavle should have an increase in assists this season.

Micheal Hartmann LW

Mickey was a hard trying good player to have on the Renegades. Always giving it his all, Hartmann gathered 29 points in 45 games. A good checker, Hartmann is young in the game and will only get better with more practice and experience. Had an excellent spring tournament with 3 goals and two assists in 6 games.

Aydin Smith D

Has a nack for finding the net. 3rd among Renegade Defenceman in scoring with 21 points in 46 games, Smith is a hard worker and one of the top body-checkers on the Renegade team. Needs to be a little more conscistent however and keep his mind on the ice, and off the ladies. Can get 30 points this season.

Christopher Bergmann LW

A third liner, Bergman improved as the season went on. Was a good passer with 15 assists last season and had a great spring tournament with 3 goals and 2 assists. Must practice scating more and he'll be a goal scorer in no time. Good future for young player.

Thomas Rensleigh RW

One of the best Athletes on the Renegades Team, Rensleigh played almost all of his games in the second half due to soccer commitments. A great team player, Rensleigh had 19 points in only 24 games. Underachieved in Spring Tournament with only 3 points , Rensleigh has all the tools to become a star but will settle for good player. Rensleigh is more consintrated on his soccer career as he is one of the best amoung his age in B.C. and recently tried out for a Division 2 Soccer Team in England. Should see limited action again this season but should get more points in spring tournament.

Bryan Louis RW

Good scater had an dissapointing season with only one goal in 39 games. Is a good checker and passer, 11 assists last season, Louis must spend more time practing stickhandling and be more focused on his Ice Hockey. Can score 15 goals easily if he worked hard this summer.

Matthew Van Deventer D

Hulking 215 Pounder led Renegades in penalty minutes with 92. Another great team player, Matthew doesn't score much , but he leads by example, taking out opposing teams' forwards and thus not allowing any scorinbg chances. Has a lot of heart, Matthew is the perfect stay at home defenceman. Has a good slap-shot but seldom uses it. A lot of conditioning would drastically improve goal production. Should help Rengades win a few games this season.

Travis Nordin D

Another strong Renegade Defence-man who works hard on the boards, Nordin got 10 points but his real value is his defencive attributes. He checks and hits oppsosing team's player's who try to go in on the Renegades net. He doesn'ty back down from anybody. Needs to impove scating however and work on stickhandling . Should improve on offence this year.

Ramsey Pretty G

With Ian Whittaker traded away, Ramsey found himself being the only goalie on the Renegades Ice Hockey Team. Pretty stopped a lot of rubber and in doing so looked "pretty". Set Career Highs in Games Played , 45 , Wins , 28 and shoutouts , 2 . Only 2 wins shy of the magical 30 Win Plateau, Pretty used his stand-up tecknique to stop the shots. Needs to work on wrap-arounds, and five hole and practice a little more. Hard to duplicate last season's wins but should be a better goalie with more experience.
