Richmond Midget C-4 finished first in the round-robin playoff and played 4th seeded Vancouver Midget ThunderBird C-1 . Richmond Midget C-4 didn't play their strongest hockey and Vancouver M C-1 came out shooting and pulled off the upset , winning two straight game and sweeping the Rockets .
The Richmond Midget C-5 Renegades seemed to have been in an entirely different world after losing their final round-robin game 13-4 to the Rockets 2 weeks ago. Their first game , which they hosted at home, the Renegades came out flat and lost 8-1 . That was one of the Renegades poorly played games ever as they just didn't seem to have any heart as this is the playoffs and this is when you clutch up and do anything to win.
With that game out of the way , the Renegades faced Elimination Sunday Afternoon at 1:45 P.M. at Sunset Arena . The Vancouver Midget C-2 squad lead the Midget Non-Contact playoff series 1-0 and the know with one more win , they would play their Vancouver brothers in the final.
Richmond Midget C-5 came out strongley in this ! Vancouver scored first but Darcy Pi quickly tied the game at one . Later Dominic Jugovic got the puck and surged unto the ThunderBird Midget C-2 goaltender and scored a beauty and that gave the Renegades for their first lead of the series 2-1 ! The Renegades looked strong at this point as they where holding the T-birds off the score sheet with sound-defence and their offence was getting some chances .
Just before the first period ended , the T-birds scored and tied the game at 2 heading into the first intermission .
The second was all Vancouver and the Richmond Midget C-5 Renegades , for the second straight year ; will go golfing a little earlier and no , there is no championship banner ! The C-2 ThunderBird squad scored 5 goals in the second and completly dominated it . The ThunderBirds scored once early in the third and Jay Howard scored Richmond Midget C-5 's final goal of the 2000-2001 season . Game 2 Midget Non-Contact Final Score : Vancouver Midget C-2 8 , Richmond Midget C-5 3 . Vancouver M C-2 Wins Series 2-0 . Get out the GolfClubs !!
