With all the suanral in their Midget minds . The Renegades opened the uphoric game-trip with a 6:15 P.M. Saturday Night game at Minuru Arena 2 , an arena with a lot of rich Ice Hockey History .
Daniel Pi took a Dominic Jugovic and Darcy Pi pass and conjured the puck into the waling net to give the Renegades an early 1-0 first period lead . The First-place Richmond Midget C-4 Rockets where on and off all game long so when they tied the game at one they where on . They scored another one and took a 2-1 lead into the second .
Gaelen Mogan tied the game with a nice breakaway deak on the Rocket netminder . Jay Howard and Micheal Knowles picked up the assists . The Rockets countered with a goal a few minutes later but the Renegades tied it up quickly after applying harsh pressure. The Rockets had killed of an Renegade power-play but they couldn't get the puck out of the blue-line . Eventually Renegade Captain and D-Man Chad Oyhenart corralled the puck and dished it off to A.J. McKenzie who deeked 2 Rocket players and passed the puck to an extremely open Darcy Pi . Pi got the pass and one-timed the puck past the way out of play dumbfound Ian Whittaker . The Renegades where hot in the middle of the second and looked like they where hungry for a victory...
But... The Richmond C-4 Midget Rockets aren't in first-place in the Midget C Non-Contact Ice Hockey League for nothing . This team reminds a lot about the 1998-1999 Bantam C-1 Blues . That team had a nack for sleeping for half of the game and than playing strong the other half . The Midget Rockets are a lot like that as they toy with you , play shabby and then when they get hungry , it's dinner time ! The Richmond Midget C-4's took the lead back and Matt Greenwood gave the Rockets a two-goal cushion heading into the third period . The Third was completly controlled by the Midget C-4 Rockets stellar Defense . The Renegades could only mustar 3 shots !! The Rockets scored one more goal and won 6-3 .

The next day the Renegades had a 1:45 P.M. Sunday Matinee at Sunset Ice Hockey Arena at South Vancouver. The C-1 Midget Thunder Birds of Vancouver played really strongly today and outmatched the Renegades both offence-wise and physical-wise . Once again the Renegades where dumbfounded by great D . After goals by Daniel Pi and Dominic Jugovic, the Renegades had tied the game at two in the second but then utter disaster struck . Vancouver took the lead and then a staggering 4 seconds later , they scored again ! Renegades CentreMen Dominic J ugovic won the face-off and passed it off to his d , but the d didn't get the puck and the Vancouver Centre-Men scated to that puck and went on a breakaway and scored shoulder-side on the Renegades new Goalie Back-up called up from the Renegades Farm Team out in Richmond Bantam C-5. The two goals in four seconds where by two different players so Dominic Jugovic's record of 2 goals in 8.2 seconds against Killarney last year in Bantam still stands. But that wasn't all ... 9 seconds later , that same Centreman scored again ! The ThunderBird bench went absolutely wild !! Players where yelling and screaming as if they had just won the Cambell Conference Championship . It was an spectacular feat !! Very rare in Ice Hockey !! 3 goals in 13 seconds !! Webmaster J.J. doesn't know if this is a record but I'll check up on it for shure ! I think the Boston Bruins hold the record for the fastest three goals which I believe was 12 seconds , but I'll check up on that !
Anyways the T-Birds went on to win 8-3 . Ugly for the Renegades definatly ! Tyler Epp had the only third period Renegade goal.

Next up was a rematch with the same squad in a rare game in Kitsalano Ice Hockey Rink on Monday January.29'2001 . The Renegades came prepared for this one as the score of the game would indicate . Richmond Midget C-5's where much more smarter mentally and a lot stronger defensively . Jay Howard got Richmond C-5 on the board first with a stunning wrist shot that blow high past the goalies blocker . A.J.McKenzie and Gaelen Mogan picked up assists. The Renegades took a 1-0 lead into the second.
The Vancouver C-1 Midget ThunderBirds came out stronger on the second scoring two goals in three minutes to take the lead . At the end of the second , Dominic Jugovic intercepted a T-Bird passing play and went on a partial breakaway and scored . This made the game a close 2-2 heading into the third . The third period was very similar to the playoffs as both teams played very defensively with a couple of scoring chances . Mid-way into the third , the T-birds took advantage of an power-play and scored to take the lead . The Renegades applied pressure in the final three minutes as the T-bird goalie made more than his share of game-saving saves for his Vancouver team . With time winding down , the T-Birds scored an empty net goal and that iced the game . The Renegades played much stronger hockey today but still came out on the losing end , thus the Richmond Midget C-5 Renegades have now lost 5 games in a row .

The Richmond Midget C-5 Renegades have had a trying time indeed this 2000-2001 season . Now in the midway 24 games played part of the season , the Renegades are 8 games under 500. That alone said should scare any Renegade fan . But the Renegades are not nearly as bad as their current record indicates . A lot of those losses occurred when the Renegades blew Third-period leads . Also the Renegades have been beligered by a stach of injuries and players getting new jobs . Two lines are the norm for most of the games this year , but on the positive side , at least the Renegade players playing in those 2 lines are getting a lot more ice time and therefore becoming better players . The first half wasn't a disaster or anything like that , it was an learning experience . Let's hope for a successful playoff and tournament run in the second half of the season'
