Radical equations
 Objective: To solve equations containing radicals

An equation with a variable in the radicand is called a radical equation. To solve an equation such as = 6, square each side.
The result is that a = 36

Squaring each side of an equation does not always result in an equivalent eqaution. Many equations will give two
solutions: n and -n The solution that does not check in the original equation is called the extraneous solution. Make sure you eliminate all extraneous solutions from your final answer.

Example:
Solve - 4 20
= 24
a = 576
