This is the Bonilla Island lightstation. A large,exposed station on the Hecate Straight. It looks across the water to the Queen Charlotte islands, some 50 miles away.

An eerie image of the station at dusk. You can see the main light on the hill, and also see its reflection in the water. Some very unusual clouds high overhead.

Its a long climb to the top, to do the normal chores in the light tower. It is also excellent exercise. There are 78 steps on this staircase to get you to the top. Its a lovely view from up there.

Looking at this picture, you can see why a lightkeepers life is a busy affair in the summer time. Look at all that white paint. But as you can see, we do it and we do it well. This ''shiny white paint' it typical of all lights on the west coast.
