You have contacted Janus Weyr, an offline Anne McCaffrey Pernclub "headquartered" in Fairfield, Texas. We have been in existence since May of 1985 when the club was begun by Chantal Whittington (nee Gaudiano) and Tinker Strother as Senior Weyrwoman and Weyrleader/Editor respectively. Things have changed in those seventeen years as my character is no longer Weyrleader.
Our hardcopy newsletter, Ni Var Chronicles, is bimonthly and contains stories, artwork, poetry and almost anything else the members send in for publication. This also means that if they don't send anything in, the newsletter doesn't go out. Dues are currently $17.00 for US addresses, $19.00 for Canadian addresses and $22.00 for the rest of Planet Earth. This gets you six issues. Please email Janus_Weyr@excite.com with club dues info in the subject line for whom to make the Money Order out to and the snailaddress to send it to. We also have back issues available by sending $2.00 for each issue (1-30) wanted. Use the above email address with back issues in the subject address.
You do not have to send in dues to be an online Janus member. Folks who send in submissions (poetry, artwork, stories, reviews of movies, books, Letters of Comment, etc.) get the issue their submission appears in gratis.
Our primary objective is to have fun and explore, within the 'rules' set forth by Miz McC, the fascinating world of Pern through stories, poetry, artwork and discussion. Questions are gleefully accepted and, if I don't know the answers I'll bet you a new set of fighting straps I can find someone who does know the answer.
