He was born at Benden Weyr to a Holder girl who was seduced by one of their blueriders. Kalina was thrown out of her home when it was discovered that she was with child and she fled to the Weyr and was taken in by D'nal, the child's father. He Impressed his bronze at Benden in the first Turn of this Pass, when he was fifteen. Working hard, the pair rose through the ranks to attain Wingleadership. Approximately Turn 11 or 12, tragedy struck. His weyrmate, Ahanna, was blown from their weyrledge. She died shortly thereafter, along with their unborn child. Grief-striken, S'lian sought to escape the memories that surrounded him at this most famous of Weyrs and requested a transfer to any Southern Continent Weyr. The Benden Weyrleader, knowing that Janus Weyr was seeking seasoned riders to fill ranking positions, wisely sent him there. S'lian is 6'1" with black hair and brown eyes. He wears his shoulder-length wavy. He has one full blood sister, Kalova and a firelizard companion named Blossom.
