Born at Keroon Runner Hold, she now lives at Janus Weyr. She comes of a talented familial line. Her father came of a long line of Fortian dragonriders and her mother from a long line of Harpers and Smiths. Her father, Yagren, had no luck Impressing and took up the Craft of raising runnerbeast and married Marene who was then as assistant Harper at Keroon. Besides Kalina, they have two sons; Courlan and Magren and another daughter, Nene.At fourteen, Kalina was fostered to friends of her father's at Fort Weyr and, one turn later, Impressed brown Ridith. Before fostering, however, she had tried her hand at many Crafts. Among them Artisan (where she discovered she had a smidgeon of talent). There was also a stint at herding that left her with a goat named Temper who lives with her parents and her canine -- Crusher, who inhabits her weyr at Janus. Her grandfather, a smith, crafted a pendant and belt knife for her and she still has them. With Ridith's aid, she is now becoming half-sociable. She had been choosing Crafts that allows much solitude. She is still very attached to Keroon, but is able to tolerate the fact that she does not get a chance to visit there very often. She stands 5'5" and weighs 130 pound with hazel eyes and wavy brown hair.
