Just A Dance

Chapter 3

The Date

The next after noon after the party Brian called Alissa and they agreed to go to dinner at seven that evening.

"So where are we going?" She asked him.

"Not gonna tell. You'll see."

"Brian..."

"Nope, sshhh."

"I have to know what to wear." She said giggling.

"Ok, think..elegant."

The hung and she layed back on the couch. All she could do was smile.

Anna spent most of the day at the club. She was trying to keep busy and not think about AJ. A little part of her felt bad for yelling at him. She got home and Alissa was ready for her date. "Wow, you look good girl!" Anna told Alissa. She was wearing a long black dress that tied aroud her neck and had a slit going up the side. "Thanks." Alissa said sounding a little nervous. A few minutes later there was a knock at the door and since Alissa was in her room Anna opened it.

"Hey Brian. Come on in. She'll be out in a minute." Anna noticed Brian looking a little nervous and thought it was cute.

"So, what are you doing tonight?" He asked her as they sat on the couch.

"Nothing. I'm going to watch tv and go to bed early for once."

Alissa came out and Brian stood to greet her with wide eyes. "You look beautiful." He told her with a smile. "Thank you." She said blushing. Alissa grabbed her purse and they were off for thier date.

Brian took her to a real fancy place. She had never been to a place like that befor, it wasn't realy her thing. But she was with Brian and that's all that mattered. They were seated at a table in the back. They were givin menu's and opened them.

"I'm sorry we have to sit way back here." Brian said looking up from his menu.

"It's ok."

They both stared at the menu's trying to decide what to get. When the waiter came to the table they still hadn't decided and asked for a few more minutes.

"How does a burger sound?" Brian asked setting down his menu.

"It sounds great." She said with a smile.

They set down thier menu's and went to Brian's car. He put on a hat and pulled it down at an attempt to disguize himself. They drove threw Mc Donalds drive threw and then headed to the beach. They sat in the car and ate thier food while they talked. They had so much in common they talked non-stop. Untill Brian brought up basketball.

"You dont like basketball?" He asked her.

"I just think it's boring. I mean, what is so fun about watching guys running up and down a court shooting a ball."

"It's the compatition. I love basketball."

"Well, you'll have to talk to Anna about that. She loves it too. She even drags me out to play with her once in a while."

"Are you any good at playing?"

"No, it's not a pretty site when I'm on the court. For the longest time I didn't even know what a foul was." Brian laughed.

They finished eating and went for a stroll on the dark beach. "I love the beach at night. It's soo pretty with the moonlight reflecting on the water." Alissa said. Brian started to hold her hand and she smiled to him. "It's wierd. I feel so comfortable with you. Like I'v known you for a long time." Alissa told him. "Let's sit for a minute." Brian said laying out a blanket he had brought. They sat down and Brian took both of her hands.

"Alissa, I have to leave tomorrow and tour for a little bit." He told her.

"How long?"

"Three months."

Alissa sat quiet. She was a bit upset that he didn't tell her sooner. She started to think she'd never see him again.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner."

"I wish you would have."

"Would you have still gone out with me tonight?"

She paused for a minute and then answered him honestly. "Probably not. I realy like you now and by the time you get back you wont even remember me."

"Yes I will. I realy like you Alissa and I would love to see you again when I get back."

Alissa thought about that for a minute. She realy didn't know if she wanted to date someone she'd never see. She didn't know if she was strong enough to handle that type of a relationhship. They she silently scolded herself for not thinking of these things befor she went out with him. Then she turned to him and looked into his crystal blue eyes and she became lost in them. "I'd like that." She said softly and kissed is cheek. "Oh god, what am I getting myself into." She thought.

Brian drove her home and walked her up to her door. "I'll call you." He told her and gave her a sweet hug. They parted from the hug and Alissa kissed him. It started as a sweet little kiss, but became deeper and passionate. They parted from the kiss and Brian was a little shocked that she'd kissed him like that. "There, now you wont be able to forget me." She said with a smile. "Hell no, I wont!" He thought to himself.

When Alissa went inside Anna was asleep on the couch. "Anna?"

"Lissy, how was the date?" Anna asked trying to wake up.

"It was fun...I realy like him. Have you talked to AJ?"

"Nope."

"Ya know they are leaving for a tour in the morning. You should call him."

Anna thought for a minute and decided to call him. She went to her room and layed on her bed with the cordless phone.

"Talk to me." AJ answered.

"Hi, AJ."

"Hi"

"Umm, I'm sorry about last night. I shouldn't have yelled at you." She told him.

"Was I right?"

She wanted to tell him no, but she wanted to be truthful with him. "Yes, AJ, you were, but you stil don't know exactly what I went through."

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

She took a deep breath. She didn't like talking about it, but he already knew enough so she might as well tell him everything. "Ok, two years ago I was going to MSU along with my boyfriend Rick who I had been with since tenth grade. He was on the football team, and was a star player." She paused and had to fight back tears. "One day, during a game...he scored a touch down...when he spiked the ball a guy from the other team...charged at him head first, witch....caused Rick to be thrown into the air....he landed, on his head....and died instantly from...a broken neck...I saw the whole thing...I was there."

There was a moment of silence. She was right. AJ had no idea and he was shocked. "Anna...I'm so sorry. You were right, I didn't know shit."

"So, can we please just be friends? I realy like hanging out with you, but I can't do any more than that."

"Yes, Anna."

AJ had to go and finish packing so he would be ready to leave in the morning. Anna layed in bed and stared at the cieling. She didn't think she would ever hear from AJ again. She figured he'd just move on to the next girl and forget about her.
