Squall Leonhart is a student at Balamb Garden, a prestigious military school where he is training to become a SeeD. Cold and distant, he is certainly a lone wolf. On his neck is a necklace with a griffon like symbol on it. A griffon is a mythical creature with the upper body of a eagle and the lower body of a lion. The name of the griffon is Griever.
The name Squall means "passing shower" and his last name "Leonhart" was derived from an earlier Final Fantasy game which was never released in the U.S. or Canada. Squall's looks are actually American and Japanese. Supposedly, there were two people, one American and one Japanese that were used to create the figure Squall Leonhart. No wonder, Squall looks half-Asian and half-American. Thanks to SLICENDICED2BITS for that little piece of info! Squall's limit break is the Renzokuken and his weapon is the gunblade. The gunblade is a gun crosses with a sword. Only he and Seifer Almasy uses this weapon. Speaking of Seifer, he is Squall's arch-rival and Seifer is the one who gave Squall the scar he has on his forehead. In retaliation Squall gave Seifer the scar he has on his forehead.
Later on in the game Squall meets a beautiful spirited girl named Rinoa Heartilly. He meets her during a mission to help her resistance faction, the Forest Owls. To see how this story develops, you gotta play the game...or you can ask me and I'll tell you as much as possible!
