Canri'anye:
Canri'anye is the ceremony for the initiation of Wingleaders and their second in command. The ceremony usually takes place in the capital of the sector (ie: Dryse, Romea, Elsoverda, Baok). The Dragonqueen and the Dragonking are always present, but their council may or may not be there.
What happens:
Decorations, seating, and the podium are set up early in the morning. The volunteers and whoever wants to be present is invited to various social activities, usually including a lunch. Some time in the late afternoon, the Dragonqueen and King arrive and are greeted by the former Wingleaders. In the case of a new Citadel being christened, the Wingleaders of the hosting Citadel greet the DQueen and King. The Queen and King then immediatly proceed to move up to the podium to take their places. As soon as they're seated, purple dragons at the two corners of the area behind the Queen and King send off lightning bolts high into the sky to signal the new Wingleaders to fly over. The new Wingleaders enter the scene, the male from the west, female from the east. They meet somewhere in the middle, swoop downwards in a tight air-embrace, land, and the riders dismount. The new Wingleaders' Second in Command is called to the front and initiated by the Dragonqueen, who burns a tattoo (using her silver's abilities--completely painless) onto each of their wrists. Then the new Wingleaders are called up, and the old Wingleaders come before them. The Old kneel before them to show that they've stepped down, and they move out of the way. The new Wingleaders proceed up to the podium. This is absent if there aren't any old Wingleaders. The Wingleaders are initiated by recieving painless tattoos on their necks. The Queen then hands the Wingleaders their Citadel's flag, and together they hold it up high, signalling that the ceremony is over.
The tattoos for each person are different each time, and some have even been said to have held untold prophesies and had a hidden meaning. Dragons are also tattooed on the underside of the elbow wingskin, on both Wingleaders and Seconds.
After the ceremony, there is a large party to celebrate the initiation of the new Wingleaders, and the retirement of the old Wingleaders.
