Characters
Lindsee Peterson- Age 18. She has short layered brown hair; hazel blue eyes and is 5’2. She’s a freshman in college. Has been Nick’s best friend since she was 3. About to get married to her boyfriend Steve since 11th grade. Keeps thinking why she’s marrying Steve when she’s fallen in love with Nick. Will she make the right decision and tell Nick her true feelings before she makes the greatest mistake of her life.
Steve Landry- Age 18. Has chocolate brown hair and brown eyes and is 6’0. He’s a freshman at the same college as Lindsee. Has been Lindsee’s boyfriend since they were both in 11th grade. About to marry Lindsee. Constantly cheats on her. Lindsee has no clue.
Jessi Gabrielise- Age 18. She has long blonde hair and green eyes and is 5’3. Has been one of Lindsee’s closest friends since 1st grade. Is dating AJ McLean for about a year.
Lindsey Detienne- Age 18. She has long brown hair and blue eyes and is 5’1. Has also been one of Lindsee’s closest friends since 1st grade. Is dating Brian Litteral also for about a year now.
Nikki Webber- Age 18. She has medium brown hair and hazel eyes and is 5’5. Has been Lindsee’s friend since 1st grade. Is dating Kevin Richardson.
Jaci Chase- Age 18. Has shoulder length dark brown hair and hazel eyes and is 5’3. Has been a close friend of Lindsee’s since 1st grade. Is currently dating Howie Dorough.
Nick Carter- Age 20. Has blonde hair and bluish gray eyes and is 6’0. Is Lindsee’s best friend, but has fallen in love with her. Will he tell Lindsee he loves her before she saids I do to Steve?
Brian Littrell- Age 24. Has blonde curly hair and is 5’8. Is dating Lindsey and is Nick’s best friend.
AJ McLean- Age 22. Has dark brown hair and brown eyes and is 5’9. Is dating Jessi.

Chapter one
Lindsee sighed as she sat in the driver’s seat of her car that was parked in the driveway of her best friend Nick Carter. She sat there as she began to think about past memories about her and Nick.
Lindsee sat by the lake lost in thought as Nick came and sat next to her.
“Hey L.” Nick said as he put his hand on Lindsee’s shoulder.
“Aaah!”Lindsee said suddenly as she jumped.
“Nick! You know I’m jumpy.” Lindsee said snappy.
“Sorry.” Nick said. “What went up your butt?”
“Sorry Nick.” Lindsee sighed as she looked at the lake.
“I’ve been having a lousy day.” Lindsee replied as she rubbed the temple of her forehead.
“I have a splitting headache. I didn’t mean to take it out on you.” Nick smiled then nodded. Nick then sat behind Lindsee and started to massage her shoulders.
“Thanks.” Lindsee replied as Nick started to get into the massage.
“Welcome.” Nick replied back.
“I miss things like this when you’re on tour.” Lindsee said as she laid her head back on Nick’s shoulder and closed her eyes.
“Ha ha.” Nick said chuckling.
“So how’s school?”
“Stressful.” Lindsee replied.
“I can’t wait till Finals are finally done and over with.” Lindsee said.
“They’re making me tense.” Nick laughed as his reply.
“I can tell cause of your shoulders.” Nick said.
“Oh yea.” Lindsee said.
“So how’s Mandy?” Lindsee asked.
“She’s good.”
“That’s good.” Lindsee said.
“Remember the guy I had a crush on that I told you about?”
“Yea.” Nick said.
“Well he asked me out.”
“That’s great L.” Nick said smiling. Lindsee sighed as she got out of her car and closed the door. That was two years ago when she was 16 and nick was 18. Two years later she was now 18 and about to get married to Steve her boyfriend since 11th grade. A lot had changed in the last two years. Especially Lindsee’s feelings for Nick. Lindsee slowly walked to the front door and forced herself to smile.
Lindsee got to the door and rang the doorbell. A few seconds later she heard footsteps. Followed by the door opening. Nick saw Lindsey and smiled.
“Come here you!” Nick said as he opened his arms to hug Lindsee. Lindsee returned the hug and smiled as she stepped back.
“Hey Carter you’ve been working out.” Lindsee said noticing that Nick was wearing a black wife beater and jeans.
“You’ve lost some weight.” Nick said noticing that Lindsee was wearing black pumps, black mini skirt and a white baby tee midriff.
“You look great L.” Nick said smiling.
“Thanks.”
“Come on in. Everyone is basically here.” Nick said as he wrapped his arm around Lindsee’s waist as he closed the door.
“Oh groovy.” Lindsee said smiling.
“Hey guys guess who decided to grace us with her presence.” Nick said as he and Lindsee stopped in the doorway to the den.
“Lindsee!” Howie said as he stood up from where he was sitting and gave her a hug.
“Let me get a look of you.” AJ said coming up behind Howie.
“Damn girl! You’ve lost weight!” Lindsee begin to laugh as she smiled.
“You look fiine. Steve is a lucky guy.”
“Thank you.” Lindsee said sheepishly. Lindsee smiled again. All of her closet friends were there that she hasn’t seen in a year since she went off to California for college. It was good to be back. Lindsee thought as she looked at Brian, Kevin, Howie, AJ, and her closet friends Jessi, Nikki, Lindsey and Jaci since 1st grade.
“Hey you must be tired from the drive sit down.” Nick said leading her to the couch where Kevin had moved over so Lindsee could sit. Lindsee chuckled.
“Nick I drove the car. I didn’t push it.” Everyone laughed.
“So Linds how is college?” Howie asked Lindsee.
“Better yet how’s the girls?” AJ said wickedly smiling.
“AJ!” Jessi said hitting AJ in the arm.
“Ow! Geez Jess I was only kidding sheesh.” Lindsee lifted her brow.
“Would someone like to inform me when AJ and Jessi started dating?” Lindsee asked annoyed that she wasn’t clued in or up to date on the latest news.
“Or any news for that matter?”
“Hmm well Linds-“ Brian said nervously laughing.
“Me and Leighanne broke up and I’ve been dating Lindsey for a year.” Lindsey beamed as Brian took her hand.
“I’ve been dating Nikki for 6 months.” Kevin said.
“AJ?” Lindsee asked sternly.
“We’ve been dating since you left for college.” AJ said.
“Nick?” Lindsee asked as she looked at him.
“No. Not since Mandy.” Lindsee began to choke in shock.
“You haven’t been dating in over a year?” Lindsee squeaked out.
“Yea.”
“Oh boy.” Lindsee muttered.
“Ok to answer your question about college Howie it’s stressful. I never thought I’d say this but I miss high school. They didn’t give so many finals. I’m glad it’s 3,000 miles away for 3 months.”
“Aww poor baby.” Nick said in a mocking tone.
“Oh shut up.” Lindsee said as she threw a pillow at Nick making everyone laugh.
“But at least it’s good to be home.” Lindsee added with a smile.
Nick sighed as he looked at the stars from the dock. It still was shocking to him that Lindsee was getting married in a few days. Tomorrow was the rehearsal dinner along with Lindsee’s batchorlette sleepover. Nick sighed again this time as he took a swig from the bottle of his soda. Nick started to remember memories of the times he and Lindsee spent together growing up. How she was always there for him. How she believed that his dream of singing would come true. In a few short days Nick wouldn’t see Lindsee again until she came home for Thanksgiving vacation. Nick sighed as he remembered something from a year ago.
“Hello”
“L it’s me.” Nick said emotionally.
“Nick what’s wrong?” Lindsee asked concerned.
“Its Mandy. I-I broke up with her.” Nick started to cry.
“Nick want me to come over?” Lindsee asked heartbroken and upset at Mandy.
“Y-yea.”
“I’ll be over in a few minutes ok.”
“Ok. Linds?”
“A yea?”
“How did I deserve you as a friend?” Click. Lindsee hung up the phone and smiled. A few minutes later, Lindsee pulled up in front of Nick’s house and ran up to the door. Lindsee rang the bell. Nick opened the door with signs he had been crying. Lindsee stepped forward and hugged Nick. They then went into the house and sat on the couch. Lindsee noticed that Nick’s big screen TV was missing. She ignored that fact and paid attention to Nick.
“When did you break up?” Lindsee asked.
“A few days ago. It was awful Linds. I caught her red handed slapping Brent just for listening to one of my songs. She also took my TV.”
“Bitch.” Lindsee muttered mad.
“She had been abusing me for two years.”
“How come you never told me this?” Lindsee now asked mad.
“Because I didn’t want you to worry about me.” Lindsee sighed.
“I guess that’s understandable.” Lindsee said as she yanked out a piece of paper from her pocket and handed it to Nick.
“What’s this?” Nick asked looking at the paper.
“It’s my address and phone number for my dorm.”
“Oh yea. I forgot your leaving for Cal U tomorrow.”
“Yea. I’m gonna miss you.”
“Me too. Linds you gotta promise me that you’ll call and write me.” Nick said.
“As long as you will too.”
“Deal.” Nick smiled when he realized Lindsee had kept her end of the deal. Lindsee was one of his best friends. He should be happy for her, but he was depressed.
Lindsee glared in frustration at her reflection in her bathroom. Her hair was not corroperating with her. Of all days for a bad hair day. Lindsee threw her curling iron down in anger and sighed. She grabbed a ponytail holder and quickly pulled her hair up. This will have to do. Lindsee thought frustrated. She applied her makeup on without a problem and smiled. At least part of the morning was salvaged. Lindsee quickly grabbed her keys and wallet and was ready to go over to Jessi’s. She was glad that she had put her bag in her car the night before. She didn’t have to worry about the hassle. Lindsee quickly walked out to her car and got in. She then buckled up got the keys into the ignition. She then backed out. As soon as she started to drive, the cell phone that was in the passager seat rang. Lindsee picked up the phone while driving and clicked it on.
“Hello.”
“Hey baby.”
“Hi sweetie.” Lindsee said to her fiancé.
“I miss you.”
“I miss you too Steve.” Lindsee said.
“I can’t wait to see you tonight.” Lindsee smiled.
“Me either.”
“Where are you right now?”
“In my car on the way to Jessi’s.” Lindsee said.
“Oh yea. You’re Bridal Shower. Look I gotta go. I’ll see you later baby. I love you.”
“I love you too bye.” Lindsee hung up the phone and sighed.
“Why am I suddenly thinking that getting married is a bad idea?” Lindsee said as she drove.
“Oh Jess I love it! Thank you.” Lindsee said hugging Jessi after she opened Jessi’s gift, which was a lacy white chamomile.
“Your welcome.” Jessi said chuckling. Lindsee had been at Jessi’s with Nikki, Lindsey and Jaci for the last hour for her Bridal Shower. Lindsee had opened all her friends gifts and loved em. She had more perfume, lingerie and lotion then she expected.
“So Linds are you enjoying your last day of being Miss. Peterson?” Nikki asked as she took a sip of her sparkling cider.
“Yea.” Lindsee forcefully said trying to sound happy. In side she was miserable.
“But Mrs. Stephen Landry has a nice ring to it.” Lindsee added before she took a sip of her glass of sparkling cider. Lindsee smiled again. Now I know how Scarelett O’Hara felt in the beginning of Gone with the wind. Lindsee bitterly thought. Heck I’m acting like her. Minus the selfish, vain part. Lindsee added to her thought. Once again Lindsee asked herself why am I marrying Steve?
Nick sighed as he looked at pictures of him and Lindsee from the age of 3 and up to their currant age. Nick couldn’t believe that Lindsee was going to be married or that he was falling more in love with her. I can’t fall in love with Lindsee. She’s my best friend. Nick remembered thinking the first time he realized he loved her.
“Why don’t you just tell Lindsee you love her.” Brian said coming up behind Nick. Brian as well as everyone else but Lindsee knew Nick had developed a crush on Lindsee.
“I can’t do that Bri. She’s getting married in less then 24 hours.” Nick said.
“Fine, but your going to regret it later on down the line.” Brian said turning to leave the room. Nick sighed as he thought Brian was right. He knew that he had to follow his heart before it was too late and he made the biggest mistake of his whole life.
Lindsee sighed as she forced a smile on her face as she sat down in the Country Club where the rehearsal dinner was. She felt a headache coming on. Perfect time for a headache. Lindsee thought to herself. She was miserable inside so why not be miserable all over. Lindsee kept looking at all her friends and family who were there to help her celebrate her marriage that was about to happen in less then 12 hours. For the hundredth time that day Lindsee asked herself why she was about to marry Steve. It kept echoing through her head as everyone stood and raised their glasses. Lindsee raised her glass and silently toasted herself to my miserable soon to be marriage. Nick watched Lindsee from his table where he sat with BJ, Leslie, Angel, Aaron and his parents. He noticed Lindsee was not very happy and something was troubling her. She was hiding it very well. What’s breaking you’re heart L? Nick thought as he continued to watch Lindsee. What’s making you miserable? Lindsee felt Nick’s eyes on her and turned and smiled at him. Nick returned the smile. It soon turned into a frown as he felt his heart break as Steve kissed Lindsee. Nick stood up.
“Excuse me for a minute.” Nick said as he left and headed out to the garden. Nick sat down on a stone bench and looked up at the star filled sky. He began to remember the day Lindsee called to tell him she was engaged. That was when he was going to tell her he loved her.
Ring. Nick picked up his cell phone and turned it on.
“Hello.”
“Hey Nick it’s me.” Lindsee replied in a happy tone.
“Hey L.”
“Nick I’ve got some great news. That’s why I called.”
“Oh.” Nick said smiling.
“I got something to tell you too. You go first.”
“No you.”
“Ok. Nick Steve asked me to marry him. I’m getting married.” Nick froze as he felt his heart break.
“T-that’s great Linds.” Nick said hiding his disappointment.
“What were you going to tell me?”
“It’s nothing. Hey L I got to go. I’ll talk to you later ok.”
“Ok bye.” Click. Nick silently suddenly begin to silently sob as looked at the sky.
“Why God why?” Nick whispered.
Lindsee laughed as she along with Jessi, Lindsey, Nikki and Jaci laughed at a video of em all when they were in 9th grade at their first Home coming.
“Oh my God we were such geeks back then.” Lindsee said laughing.
“Oh yea.” Jessi said now rolling on the floor laughing. After they finished the movie they decided to talk and play truth or dare. When it was Lindsee’s turn Jessi asked her the question.
“Lindsee truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Have you ever done it?”
“No.”
“Oh my God Linds! You mean you and Steve never-!” Lindsey asked in shock.
“Nope.” I’m waiting till I get married.”
“Well Linds you’ve done a great job of maintaining your hormones.” Nikki said smiling.
“Thanks.” Lindsee replied.
“It’s been hard, but I sustained and kept my morals. But I have thought about sex for the last few months.”
“Who can blame ya.” Jessi said.
“AJ is like Mr. Hormone 24/7.” Lindsee began to laugh. She remembered when AJ first flirted with her when she met him the first time. She was 15. Nick had invited her to come with him to AJ’s 20th birthday. That’s when she met Brian, Kevin, and Howie.
“Yea. That’s true.” Lindsee said with a smile.
“So this is how my batcholar party is going to be.” AJ said as he watched the stripper.
“If you guys throw me one forget about the stripper.” Brian said.
“Linds would kill me.”
“True.” Howie said.
“Jaci would have my head.” Nick sighed as he continued to watch the stripper. He suddenly noticed Steve grabbed hold of the stripper. Nick knew Steve had been heavily drinking since the begging of the party. Nick knew was about to happen. AJ, Brian, Kevin and Howie watched as Steve lead the stripper to a bedroom. They saw Nick now filled with rage in his eyes as he stood up and marched up to Steve.
“Whoa.” AJ said. Just as the stripper was in the room Nick closed the door and pinned Steve up against the door.
“What the fuck.” Steve said drunk.
“Bastard.” Nick said through his teeth.
“How could you do this to Lindsee!” Steve laughed.
“Oh please that little bimbo. I’ve been cheating on her since we’ve been together. She’s had no clue for the last two years I’ve been cheating on her. I feel sorry for the little bitch. Hell I pity her.”
“Bastard!” Nick said now enraged.
“What are you gonna do Carter tell her.” Steve said laughing.
“She won’t believe you. She won’t believe you at all.” Nick was released Steve and sighed. Steve regained his composure and opened the door and went into the room. Nick sighed as he turned to look at AJ, Brian, Kevin and Howie.
“I got to tell her.” Nick said as they all nodded.
Lindsee looked into the mirror as she applied her makeup. In an hour she was going to get married. Once again she asked herself why am I getting married? Lindsee zipped her dress up and looked at herself in the mirror. She smiled as she looked at the dress she had chosen. It was white spaghetti strap dress with an embraded white rose bodice and a chiffon skirt. She wore white roses instead of a veil. She was a few inches taller cause of 4-inch open toed heels. Lindsee felt like she had steeped out of a Bridal magazine. She took another look at her face before she decided it was perfect. Lindsee sighed as she looked at the clock.
“Only 50 minutes till I become Mrs. Stephen Landry. Lindsee Landry. Mrs. Lindsee Landry. Mrs. Nickolas Carter. No!” Lindsee shouted out.
“I can’t be in love with Nick. I’m marrying Steve.” Before she could say anymore there was a knock on the door. AJ stuck his head in.
“Hey want some company?” Lindsee smiled and nodded.
“Sure.” Lindsee said. She smiled when AJ, Brian, Kevin, Howie and Nick. They all looked so handsome. Lindsee thought as she looked at all of em in their tuxes. Nick closed the door behind him and smiled at Lindsee.
“You look beautiful. But then again you always do.” AJ said as Lindsee chuckled.
“Thanks. Will you also be saying that when I’m in 25 hours of labor?” Lindsee smiled as everyone laughed.
“We just came here to wish you good luck.” Kevin said giving Lindsee a hug.
“Thanks. I’m going to need it.” Jessi opened the door and stuck her head in.
“Hey guys we need you to escort the guests down the isle right now.”
“Oh yea. We’ll be there in a minute sweetie.” AJ said.
“We’ll leave you two alone. See you at the isle.” Brian said as he, AJ, Kevin and Howie left the room. Nick closed the door behind them and turned to face Lindsee with a sigh. Lindsee turned to face Nick. Nick sighed one more time.
“Nick what’s wrong?”
“L I have something to tell you. It’s about Steve.”
“What about Steve?” Lindsee asked now curious. Nick sighed before he resumed talking.
“Last night at Steve’s bachelor party he got drunk and he admitted to me and the guys that he had been cheating on you since you have been dating. He confessed this before he went to his room with the stripper and slept with her.” Lindsee replied with a shock look.
“I don’t believe you.”
“Linds I’m your best friend. I would never lie to you or hurt you.” Nick said as he saw Lindsee start to cry.
“You’re just jealous Nick. You don’t want me to leave and you don’t want me to get married.” Lindsee said about ready to sob.
“That’s not it. Lindsee I’m telling you what Steve really is and what’s going to happen as soon as you marry him.”
“You’re lying! I don’t believe you!” Lindsee screamed.
“I don’t believe you.” Lindsee and Nick remained quiet as they looked at each other. Jessi opened the door and stuck her head in.
“Linds are you ready? We need you right now.” Jessi asked.
“Yea. I’ll be there in a minute.” Lindsee said looking at Nick. Jessi closed the door as Lindsee wiped the tears from her face as she grabbed her bouquet of mixed roses and looked at Nick. She quietly turned and walked to the door. She sighed as she opened the door. She sighed as she opened the door and left the room. Nick remained standing there sadly realizing he was about to loose Lindsee.
Nick miserably left the room and walked out to the church. He took his place at the altar next to AJ, Brian, Kevin and Howie.
“Did you tell her?” Brian whispered to Nick.
“Yea. She doesn’t believe me Rok.”
“We got to get Steve to confess that he’s really a bastard.” Brian whispered back. They went back to their stand as the music started. Steve escorted his mother down the isle followed by Lindsee’s mom by her 15-year-old brother Logan. Steve took his place as Jessi started to come down the isle. Jessi was wearing a sleeveless black and emerald green dress. The top was black while the bottom was green. Her hair was pulled up in ringlet curls. She took her place as Lindsey walked down the isle. Followed by Jaci, Leslie, BJ, Angel and Nikki. As soon as Nikki took her place, the wedding march started up. Everyone stood up to watch Lindsee and her dad walk down the isle. Lindsee forced herself to smile as she looked at Steve. Steve returned the smile as Lindsee Stepped forward. Nick begin to think about what he was about to do when the minister got to if anyone has any reason why these two shouldn’t be married speak now or forever hold your peace.
“I do.” Nick said. Everyone gasped in shock.
“I have two good reasons why they shouldn’t be married. Steve has been cheating on Lindsee since they started to date. I have four other people who heard him tell me himself.” Lindsee looked at nick then at AJ, Brian, Kevin and Howie. They all had the same expression on their face. Nick was telling the truth. Lindsee turned to face Steve.
“Is this true?” Steve replied with a nervous laugh. Lindsee as well as her guests gasped.
“Why?” Lindsee asked heartbroken.
“Why Steve why?”
“Why.” Steve said laughing.
“Why you ask? I’ll tell you why. I did it cause you wouldn’t sleep with me. I pitied you, you little bitch.”
“You unimaginable Bastard.” Lindsee said before she punched Steve out cold.
“What is reason two Nick?” Lindsee asked.
“Because I love you.” Nick said as he took out a black velvet box.
“Lindsee will you marry me?” Nick said as he opened the box to reveal an Irish wedding ring.
“Yes.” Lindsee said with tears in her eyes as nick took the ring out of the box. Aaron smiled from where he stood as he watched Lindsee smile. They then both turned to face the minister smiling.
“Can I resume now?”
“Yes.” Both Lindsee and nick said.
“I will start from the beginning again. We are now gathered here today to join Lindsee Deanna Peterson and Nickolas Gene Carter in marriage.”
“Mrs. Nickolas Carter.” Lindsey thought as she smiled. Lindsee nearly cried as Nick slipped the ring on her finger. As they were pronounced husband and wife Steve moaned as he gained conciseness and saw nick kissing Lindsee. Nick smiled as he knocked Steve out cold again as he escorted Lindsee down the isle.
