My tears pierce the darkness and the emptiness all around
Penetrating cold laced with tears
A lifetime of heartache and sorrow
As love of family and friends dies year after year
Leaving nothing but memories and a shattered heart
And a girl, all alone
I walk the streets late at night
Storm clouds circle in the sky like vultures
And the rain pours down
Cars pass by, a thousand cars, a thousand faceless drivers
Their lives are heading nowhere but they don’t care
I turn to look, and take a breath
Close my eyes tight and make a wish
For numbness, all consuming blackness
To sweep over and take with it my pain
And as I wish, I think back on my life
All the mistakes and the tears
All the happiness tinged with sorrow
And with each memory a crystalline tear forms
Mingles with the rain and falls to the ground
And with a sigh I take a step into the road
Barely heard the screech of tyres or the drivers cry
Barely felt the impact of metal and flesh
Just felt the pain melting away
Just saw the memories fade to black
And watched my life end that night.
