Despite a few of the inevitable delays, Mom and I met up as planned at Terminal 9 of Charles de Gaulle airport, reserved rooms at the cozy Hotel Angleterre Etoile in Rue Copernic, not far from the Arc de Triomphe, and headed out. To avoid jet lag we agreed to push ourselves as far as possible. It is now close to 9 pm local time and we are bagged. Mom is fast asleep now as I type this.

This is the hotel we stayed at the first night. Cozy and reasonably priced.
And here is a view of the local area, the Place Victor Hugo.

The Furious Power Bus Tour of Paris
Next, Mom and I boarded the Bus Rouge, a two-hour bus tour of Paris. Although this cost 35 dollars each (all figures in CDN dollars), it is worth it because you can ride it as much as you want for two days. Anyway we toured a whole load of places in the city. Hope I can remember them all.
The first view is La Defense, from the Arc de Triomphe.
Here's Mom on the bus.

Pont Neuf, which means New Bridge but it's the oldest bridge in Paris. The building in the back is called the Conciergerie.

L'Hotel de Paris, the City Hall of Paris

Well, that's plenty for the first day in Europe. Don't expect us to keep up this pace!
