"Riddles"

My Rating: 10 out of 10

Doctor/7 Rating: 0

This episode is my absolute favorite of Season Six. It has humour, truth, sadness... it has it all.

I usually do not care too much for Tuvok or Neelix episodes, but the interaction between the two in this ep was pure magic.

Scenes like the "hospital visit" where Neelix brings the unconscious Tuvok his belongings, crafts, and music are beautiful. When Tuvok comes back to the bridge for the first time since the accident, he is so childlike in his curiousity and you can't help feeling awkward along with the rest of the crew as he stumbles around. I felt like it was such a sad sight and such a loss, and Chakotay's final look when Tuvok leaves the Bridge, confirms that he feels the same. To me, when a scene can make you feel so strongly, it is super.

When Tuvok is scared in his quarters when the ship is shaking, and Neelix comforts him and Tuvok utters his first words, "You're Neelix. I'm safe with you." I nearly cried. It was so touching.

There are so many wonderful moments in this episode that if I mentioned them all, I would take up many pages, but I will quickly mention the Tuvok tantrum scene, the dessert making scene, and the final scene wher Tuvok retains some of his pre-operative innocence by saying the line about the Sundaes, in response to Neelix's riddle.

I would also like to mention that Robert Picardo played a very nice, caring role as the Doctor. Sweet.

This was also the episode that Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna) directed. I really liked the way that the camera zoomed out on Tuvok when he was injured and the way the camera zoomed in on him when he was going into surgery at the end. Nice touch!

All in all, this episode, to me, was flawless and excellent in every way.
