This episode was original, interesting, and extremely humorous as well as touching. Robert Picardo’s portrayal of a surly Dr. Lewis Zimmerman was amazing. The complex father-son relationship (or, if you prefer, creator-creation relationship) between the two doctors was a well thought out and plausible concept.

I just LOVED Leonard, the holographic iguana! Zimmerman’s assistant, Haley, was a nice addition as well.

But there were three things that bugged me in this episode. Didn’t Doctor Zimmerman realize that he COULDN”T make additions to the Doctor’s program? If he did, the EMH-1 wouldn’t fit through the datastream. Next, I thought that Seven removed The Doctor’s holophotography skills. Why then, later, was he seen snapping images of the Jupiter Station? Also, I felt that again they summed up the ending too quickly.

“Life Line” was very well written. Robert Picardo deserves every bit of story credit he has been given. He is an amazingly talented (and good looking!) actor who has proven he is capable of writing an entertaining script as well.

Bottom Line: Two Picardos prove to be better than one

All I can say is, “WOW! What a wonderful episode!” Robert Picardo gives us a well-thought out and written story and adds his truly superb acting skills to both of the characters he plays. He was so good that I forgot to focus on the fact that he was playing both the Doctor and Lewis Zimmerman and thought of the two as two separate people. He is one heck of a talented man.

I enjoyed the shots of the satellites and the blinking nebula in the first scene after the teaser.

I especially loved the chemistry between Seven and the Doctor in this one. The Doctor straightens in his chair when Seven brings him her information on Borg regeneration. In the scene where Seven is taking away some of the Doctors subroutines, they stand very close, and at times their arms touch. When the Doctor is saying goodbye to the Captain, Seven, and Harry in Astrometrics, Seven looks a little pouty and the Doctor gives her a nice look before he leaves.

I loved the holographic creations in Zimmermans office. The iguana, fly and especially Haley were wonderful.

This episode was perfect in every way. I found myself laughing often, and even after seeing it 4 times, I enjoyed the show.
